The new Tom Waits "Orphans" has had some exceptionally good reviews and is a set I intend getting very soon.

My choice of album of the year is the debut album of the Brooklyn band Clap Your Hands Say Yeah.
The first time I heard this band was on the Bob Dylan Tribute For Youth Benefit concert at the Lincoln Center in New York City in November. On the night they played a mesmerising version of Bob's Love Minus Zero/No Limit.
Imagine Rufus Wainwright singing up front for Talking Heads and you are half way there.
They are touring the UK in February. Miss them if you dare.

There have been so many for me. It's a hard choice.

I have to say though that Johnny Cash's album, American V - A Hundred Highways, is right at the top of the list.

Tom Waits really deserves better than me so I shall leave Orphans alone

Bob Dylan: Modern Times

I love it! Reminds me a little of Oh Mercy.

If I could have a second vote it would be:

I loved the "orphans"of Tom Waits, Sophie Solomon with her "Poison Sweet Madeira" and Beirut with the "Gulag Orkestar"
