forgive me,

i left you perched

open on page ninety-five,

precarious on the rim



an open toilet,

water laps while

i study my own scars,

then shave my legs

smooth in the bath,



unconventional acts of intimacy

into the late nights of

an Ottawa winter.

*Authors note: One night in the dead of an Ottawa winter I was in the bath with "Various Positions" thinking of how Leonard had followed me throughout my childhood and early adulthood, a silent unknowing influential mentor of sorts, and how profoundly in place i felt that we really would never be closer than this.
