Ordered it! Too late to be signed, but it's a first edition anyway.

I just finished the book. I went to the store after reading here that it might have gone on sale early. It was a bit funny, there are banners in the window saying it will be on sale on tuesday and there it is on the table for sale! So, I bought it and I have read it.

The coolest part was that I had encountered some of the book before on this very site! On the blackening pages. Jarkko and his family are mentioned first in the acknowledgements, which is also very cool.

I really enjoyed some of his poems ahout life as a monk. I really liked some of his poems about his mother. He included some where he discussed Hydra - loved those. His poems about Irving Layton really stood out for me. I am fond of a lot of the drawings. Yeah, that is how the book struck me. I enjoyed it greatly.

Book of Longing -
Signed(!!!) sealed & delivered today. Wonderful! I will post a do not disturb sign on my door and lose myself in Leonard's gift to the world.

Thank you again, Mr. Leonard Cohen.

This is SO splendid :D !!! Exceptionally warranted, as well... I'm so happy for you, Rauli, and Eija, Jarkko :D 8) :D !! Thank you to Leonard for his sensitivities.

I received an email that my book has been shipped... I'm hoping to see some relatively fresh ink  ... and that the timing suggests that there will be :) .

I was trying various options for ordering the book, and I'm pretty confused. Can anybody help? Particularly you from Europe who ordered the book...

1. Amazon Canada. With shipping to Croatia, it's 40 CAD. About 7 US$ more than on Amazon US. And the delivery takes 10-12 weeks to Croatia???

2. Amazon US can send me a copy on May 9, and it will be 25 US $ to Croatia, 15 days delivery as usually. But I want Canadian, M&S edition, and I presume this will be US version, from Ecco - HarperCollins?

3. Amazon UK will not sell the book before May 30, and who knows which edition... And their shipping is expensive (usually double than US Amazon), although the delivery tooks only 2-3 days to Croatia.

Maybe I should order it from Canadian Amazon, and believe that it will arrive it two weeks, as it does from US.

I ordered early to get a signed one from Canada, which has still not arrived here :( But the Blue Alert cd from the same order at Indigo was posted later and arrived a couple of days ago. I hope my book has not been hi-jacked on the way and is in an auction on Ebay!

Tom, your name is mentioned on the cd inserts along with Jarkko, Marie and others. You are now famous :)

From what I've been seeing on the net, Margaret, some outlets aren't releasing their copies before May 9th. Hopefully, yours is a matter of arriving later, as opposed to 'hi-jacked'. :?

I liked the few songs I've heard of Blue Alert, I think this is a def. for my music library. Anjani's voice is so crystalline, and still flexible. I love the choice of a 'classic jazz' style as well.

As I've already got an LC sig. (just had to work that in  ), I'm in no 'big' rush for the book, but I best get it soon. OR there'll be none left.

For those on the West Coast of Canada, I checked and there doesn't appear to be a similar signing in Vancouver as there was in Toronto. But, we can hope. Maybe the 'NO' meant 'maybe'.

Congrats to all who finally hit pay dirt.
