charles likes leonard

many years ago, after performing 'tower of song' at an event called
'the prince's trust', leonard returned to the stage for a group photograph together with prince charles and the other participants. since that time charles has, on more than one occasion, publicly stated how much he likes the canadian singer. now the heir to the british throne is doing it again, so maybe he's not such a bad lad after all. i wonder if camilla likes leonard? no good asking me, but she looks more like the mantovani/james last type - i have no idea. diana liked elton john best, that much i
can tell you. norway's queen sonja likes leonard's music a lot, was even seen quietly sitting in a seat at his oslo concert back in 1988. leonard sang both his erotic version of 'hallelujah' (
i remember when i moved in you, etc.) and 'chelsea hotel' (
giving me head on an unmade bed, etc.) and the journalist said her majesty didn't bat an eyelid.

thank you, pentti lentäjäinen, and to jarkko for providing the link.
to be able to touch and inspire people, even after one's death, is a remarkable feat -
and one that leonard cohen's work and reputation will most likely never cease to do.

I uploaded this clip about 10 years ago

Seems Charles has been a fan for years.

I have very little time for the Royal Family, especially Prince Charles and his penchant for using his position of privilege to lobby politicians and meddle in public affairs (see eg,
https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/201 ... unding-nhs).
But I'll admit to feeling a little more forgiving whenever I happen to stumble across an interview or news article in which he expresses a fondness for Leonard (of which there have been several over the years, so I'm guessing Leonard ranks pretty highly in terms of his musical preferences).
Does anyone know if Charles attended any of Leonard's concerts after he started touring again in 2008, or otherwise had any direct interaction with Leonard when he was alive?

Some years have gone by since this thread was started. Good to know the now King Charles is still into Leonard -
A good way for him to "Come Healing"
King’s friends say walking and painting (and listening to LC) will keep him busy after cancer diagnosis

Another said the king will also listen to the music of the late Canadian singer Leonard Cohen – specifically the poetic song Take This Waltz, which he previously described as ‘very moving’.

Geoffrey has talked about the latter above and added two links, but I couldn't see the photo he mentioned in either of them. I'm guessing it was this photo I've just found of LC and Prince Charles there at the Prince's Trust Rock Gala 1988. Charles appears to be speaking directly to Leonard. I wonder what the conversation was
