I see that Dave Allen, the Irish comedian, has died. I remember seeing him at a Leonard Cohen concert some years ago. One less fan.

Oh No I didn't know he had died. That is sooooo sad. A true ambassador for Ireland. May his God go with him.

We should remember him the way he was:
"If its sent by ship then its a cargo, if its sent by road then its a shipment!"

R.I.P.

I heard the news an hour ago, and thought it fitting to post a message; I'm glad others got there first.
With half a finger missing, drink in one hand, cigarette in the other, Dave Allen ripped into taboo subjects; death and the Roman Catholic Church being my favourites.
His stand-up and sit-down performances were sublime. A truly great comedian.
Andrew.

The fact that his death was announced on comic relief day made me smile, I bet he would have a great gag for that  I was only thinking about him the other day I remembered reading an article where he said he was a fan of Kahil Gibran so it comes as no surprise to hear he was a Cohen fan also. For me he was one of the all time comic greats.

There is a repeat of a recent program about Dave Allen tonight on Radio 4 in the U. K. Sorry, but I missed what time it's on. There will no doubt be other announcements for anyone listening today.

Dug out an old video of His last night.

Watched it again.

Had me cracking up.

Sad loss to the comedy world

My goodness, I remember being way to little to watch him, but sneaking views while my mother was busy elsewhere. I was fascinated by his drinking and smoking on TV, and of course his finger. I also remember a hilarious skit based in an old mansion.

RIP - hope the laughs continue into the afterlife!

This is a rhetorical question. Who's Dave Allen. I'm very much out of touch with TV personalites it seems. The CBC did a survey not very long ago asking Canadians what they thought was Britain's greatest contribution to North America. Humour was #1 by a landslide.

I guess I better start watching more TV :( .
