The owner of Lisadell, Sligo has just been on Irish national radio (RTE) and she stated that Leonard could be back in Sligo in 2016. Let's hope it comes true!

The owners of Lisadell are great self publicists! I assume that statement means they are thinking of asking him .....

It sounded more definite than that. She s[poke of a "commitment" for 2016!

Last year they proclaimed that Leonard is coming back to Sligo in summer 2015.
It's the same story, only the year has been updated.

I would only get excited if 1 day jarkko made the announcement we all really want , but it would need that sort of authority and i don't expect it to happen

Leonard's comment to the RTE "news":

Absolutely untrue.

This is what someone else put on one of the Facebook groups:

"Constance Cassidy, one of the joint owners of 'Lissadell House', Sligo, Ireland has said in conversation with sean O'Rourke on RTE radio this morning that Leonard Cohen is not touring this year but they hope to have him at 'Lissadell' next year - here's hoping."

Doesn't sound remotely definite to me! I set more store by Leonard's words, for now at least.

After the original tour that started in 2008 finished, I personally stated that Leonard Cohen would for sure 100% tour again. He never expected that return tour to be so successful and to receive such "adulation" To see what he did from the stage on so many nights would have been totally remarkable. When that tour ended and the next tour was being asked about, I said then that for him to witness what he did, would in no doubt make him really want to come back for more of the same and so it was.

This time, I don't see it. He has brought out further "albums" and says another is likely. He will be 81 in September, to tour again in the manner of the last two tours is just not possible, surely. To say, well he might make the tour smaller and play larger venues. OK that may be possible but larger venues require a lot of organisation, many are fully booked long in to the future. So now imagine trying to tie up dates at many "stadiums"to keep the tour running on consecutive nights (with a day off in between). Not easy. The more I hope he might, I think age and "the want" might now be against the great man touring again. I sincerely hope I am wrong but.....

I wonder if one thing he would ever consider is a one off concert programme special filmed for TV and/or dvd release. I'm sure all his fans would buy it, so it could go on tour instead of him. In fact, this could even be broadcast live in cinemas. I'd love to hear some of Popular Problems live.

Oh I hope he will consider it. I've been to similar screenings and in a cinema with good sound it is almost like being there live.

That is a pretty good idea. I attended the last Monty Python live performance last year that way (in a cinema in my city, via satellite broadcast). It worked perfectly. The audience even cheered and applauded like in a live situation. You pretty quickly forget that it's "just a broadcast".
