I am going to see a medium tonight I just wondered what views you all held i.e. do you believe that there is life after death.

I do believe there is a very nice living for the medium after someone else's death.
Why are there no large or smalls?

Some might say that this forum is evidence for it.

Tony, do you mean you are writing "from above?"
Paula, I do believe there is life after death, but I believe also that I may believe this only in order to reduce the anguish of my own eventual death, maybe, because there is no "scientific" proof, but on the other hand, that does not mean the phenemenon can not exist, that just mean scientists are not able to take the mesure of it, yet. However, I think mediumnity could be of some use in some cases, the brain acting like a kind of radio receptor and transmitter - but how it is working is still too mysterious and smokey for me to have a solid conviction about mediums.
If you want to share your impressions after having being there, I would be curious (therefore, glad) to know about your experience.

Well I have returned. I went as a believer and I have come back a non-believer. I went to see Colin Fry who is a well known medium and I always thought a good one. What a load of tosh it was.
I do still believe in the afterlife but I am now very cynical about mediums.

I must admit I never heard about a "real" medium yet, however, strange experiences happened to me regarding life after death, this is why I was curious. Well, I'm sorry that your experience sounds bad like this, Paula.

From intelligent people I know who have some experience in these things, I keep an open mind. I believe there are some genuine mediums (who do not make a charge for their services ) and a lot of clever con artists around.
I heard Gordon Smith is genuine. He has written some books.

I'll see what there is in that books, thanks Margaret!

I have been to spiritulist churches and seen some very good mediums. I do still believe in mediums but Colin Fry is a con man in my opinion.
Healers and mediums normally only charge a nominal amount but people like Colin Fry not only charge more than is necessary but they also have quite a large amount of merchandise.
Although he gave a really bad performance it was incredible that some people there really hung on his every word and waited to meet him afterwards. I suppose they badly needed to believe.

Still open minded about the whole thing. My Partner believes that She talks to Her late Father, but I am yet to be swayed either way.

I don't believe in mediums and all that hokum, but, BUT, I believe in an energy that can't be measured. Or dispersed. I don't know about Heaven & Hell - but I also had a strange experience after an incident in which I should have been stone cold dead. It was odd and eerie and I wasn't the only one to experience/witness this. Do I want to go into detail. No. But, I do think there is a little something we don't know much about.
I've heard it said that Albert Einstein believed in God. As do/have many otherwise sensible people. It is an open subject with much musing from the artistic corners. Still, there is something - I'm not sure what.
Linda.
PS: I'll let you all know when I find out.

Well if we all believe in birth and death, then there must of been something or someone to start the ball rolling.
Something or someone created space, earth and outer space, so they or it must have always been here...
So confusing!

If a medium were to laugh, would you be permitted to hit them?

As far as I remember, Einstein did not believe in a conventional “God” - he believed in the order of the universe and that there was something that was larger than the whole.
The reason for the misconception of his belief in God probably comes from his statement “God doesn’t play dice with the universe” but this was in fact a referral to Quantum physics which he didn’t seem to like much. I suppose if you want people to understand what you’re saying it’s easier to just say “God” than to go into a long explanation of what your actual belief is regarding a higher being.
Wasn’t it Stephen Hawkins who said something to the effect that not only did God play dice but he rolled them under the table?
