Has anyone got any plans otherwise can I suggest the Old Wellington Inn, Cathedral Approach, Shambles/Echange Square Sqaure at 6pm.

Opposite Selfridges and Harvey Nichols and Arndale Centre. About 300 metres from MEN Arena Venue.

Although I live just outside Manchester, I very rarely go into the City Centre, so am willing to be guided on this! It looks like a nice pub.

Clive Cass, excellent idea, if it is a nice night, there is plenty of room outside. Yes it will be a good place for a meet up.

Is there a meet up or not in Manchester at the Shamble's Wellington, there don't seem to be much interest going on here ?

I started the thread and agree not much interest but we will be there and hopefully people will join in nearer the date as still 6 weeks or so to go.

I have a friend who is a City fan and asked her about the issue that Rodin has raised.
She said :

"I don't think football pubs are trouble spots usually these days, especially when the opposition is Hull City! It's more a question of do you mind football fans. The match is at lunchtime so any football fans will have dispersed by the evening. The pub is fine. I've eaten there - trad english food. Pleasant place."

So maybe one solution is to book a table - I see they have an upstairs restaurant. Unless anyone has any other suggestions for a location?

Booking a table is a good idea if enough people are interested. The pub looked fine to me. I presume any central pub would be busy on a Saturday evening but probably more so later in the evening.
