As a Canadian, does he qualify for that particular Hall of Fame? I don't keep up with the various halls of fame. Maybe they don't consider him R&R. I'm going to look at the 'net. I agree. Your enthusiasm is so contagious.

He does qualify. His albums were released in the U.S.

Can you give me a hint or make any suggestion on how to write
this letter,I mean as I'm not that firm in English and how long it should be?
And can everybody from any part in the world participate?

Hi catherine,

I'm quite sure anyone can write. I'd just state my case (I will state my case). I would/will just drop them a brieft line explaining my reasons as to why Leonard should be in the Hall of Fame. After all, he has contributed so much to music/poetry. And now he has 1,000 covers (and climbing, I'm sure).

I am not sure Leonard belongs in a museum just yet. In any case, a man of Leonard's calibre should be approached by the proprieters, not the other way around. The public should not have to beg them to take him. These so-called 'Halls of Fame' are really business ventures, aren't they - selling tickets, books and T-shirts, etc.? What would be the point of having Leonard's name entered in a Hall of Fame? Does an artist need this 'stamp of approval'? No. Halls of Fame are commercial enterprises - there is little spiritual enrichment to be gained from receiving their blessing. I am sure you have the best intentions, but Leonard tends not to chase prestige or status. This is why he is respected and loved so much. Well, it doesn't really matter a whole lot - and I wish you luck. He will surely appreciate your warm efforts.

I can vouch for that. I was the tour guide during the 2000 LC gathering in Montreal. One stop on the tour was an apartment that he owned and lived in occasionally when he was in Montreal. We all got to see where he kept his gold records. One was hanging in his bathroom. When he sold the apartment he left it there much to the surprise of the person who bought the property.

When I bought Blue Alert. I found it in the "Easy Listening" section.

Where is the "Easy Listening" hall of fame?

Categorizing music/artists is largely for marketing purposes - so, as far as I'm concerned, Leonard Cohen can be put in any category they wish.
It was interesting, and pleasing, to see him chosen by Steve Harley as one of the top 100 'Icons of Rock' in the 'Classic Rock' magazine 100th issue here in the UK (December issue).

That is a touching story, Jack - thank you. Was it a combined toilet/bathroom or literally a bathroom exclusively - the toilet being adjacent? Had the condensation affected the record in any way, and did you think to look behind it to see if there was a message of any kind? Did you consider, even if only for a split-second, of sticking it up your jumper if you got the chance?
