This brief article is wonderful... I can hear, see, and feel Hydra through Adam's words... and get a sense of how it might have been like being Leonard's child... though, we all know we can never fully imagine such a state. Well done, Adam!
Thanks for finding and sharing this, Foxwood.

Very interesting. Thanks Foxwood. Loved the bit about Hydra being the one constant place in his childhood.

just want to say
that Adam´s newer music is really worth a good look at
I enjoyed a small concert of Adam last fall in Munich and I do like his CD ´Like a man´
or as his father put it: some first rate love songs

Yes, I saw him at a small venue in Cork, Ireland not so long ago too. Adam totally got it that most of us were there to see Leonard Cohen's son but by the end of the night I think everyone recognised him as a bona fide musician with some great songs. I too bought the Like a Man cd - and had it signed by Adam.

I've no doubt he will form his own fan base very quickly.

Adam uses the word "divorce". I always understood that Leonard never married. The idea of a "bitter divorce" somehow doesn't gell with the fact that Suzanne Elrod lived in Leonard's Hydra house for years, in fact until just a few years ago.

My understanding, from interviews & readings, is that even though they never legally married, Leonard considered (& maybe still does consider) Suzanne Elrod his "wife" (maybe because she is the mother of his children). So I suppose their separation can be seen as "divorce".
And, from what I've read & heard, Leonard has been known to be very generous, even toward people who have behaved less than kindly toward him, or amidst conflictual relationships. I also remember an article where Adam says that at some point, when Suzanne got some kind of restraining order against Leonard, Leonard lived in a sort of trailer (or some such vehicle), which he parked down the road from Suzanne's house (which he was paying for), so that the children could visit with him there. (I don't remember where they were living at that time).
I guess nothing is ever simply "black or white" in Leonard's world (regardless of what the dealer wants you thinking).
