Hi. This is my first post although I've been a fan for longer than I care to remember. This photo was taken after his 1985 concert at the Hammersmith Odeon in London. I think it's Anjani as she was backing vocals on that tour.

Hello John. Thanks. You won't have seen it because I took it all those years ago. I think it is her, but no matter- it was Leonard I was trying to caputure!

nancyB, thank you - what a gorgeous photo!!

Based on videos from 1985 (the quality of which are not so great), Anjani did look kind of that like that in 1985 - she looked surprisingly different from the way she looks now; but it is hard to tell if that's actually her in the photo.

Anyway, like you said, Leonard is definitely the main attraction here and, WOW, he is gorgeous & I love his tan jacket with the fur collar, his longer dark hair, his very sweet beautiful face, & he seems very attentive & interested in the details of whatever that lucky woman is doing (whoever she is) - the one sitting next to (& so close to) Our Leonard!!

At this concert, Leonard was almost saintly in his responses to a woman who kept shouting for 'LADY MIDNIGHT!'. Then, with infinite patience and politeness, he tried to explain that he had not rehearsed the song for this tour with his musicians, singers, etc. But she kept on and on . . .'LADY MIDNIGHT' . . . 'LADY MIDNIGHT'. He even invited her to come up on stage and sing it with him. (I've just realised, most LC fans probably have all this on tape or were there!) And then, to my horror. because she just kept up this same refrain, he invited her to come back stage after the concert and he would sing it then (at least that's how I remember it). Just shows that the squeakiest wheel gets most oil! Great concert!!!!

What a great story, wonderful to hear of different experiences at past concerts. I think the woman asking for Lady Midnight will never forget that night

Well, if anyone has the tapes from that night you will hear a loud female Scottish voice calling ' Come on Lenny, give us Nancy!' That was my friend and I was mortified!!! I would never have called mr cohen Lenny!

I think that is Anjani but I remember seeing video of her with her hair in a perm in 1985. Either way Leonard is handsome in that photo. Thanks and welcome to the forum.

Sturgess - thanks for the video. I would now agree that it is Anjani in the photo. I was at the first Hammersmith Odeon concert in 1985, but have no memories of who was onstage with Leonard that night (and I didn't know who Anjani was, at the time). I do however remember being dragged away before the last encore, as the girl I was with wanted a drink!

It's Anjani - and she was wearing that dress from the photo on one of the 1985 tour video tapes I have.

And yes, the "Lady Midnight" incident is on one of London 85 audience tapes...

Hmmm. I wonder if I tried that trick in Katowice would I get asked backstage. As i'm on the balcony for the concert going on stage would be tricky
