Thanks to Musicmania for first mention of Leonard's Meteor award. Seems to have been edited out of RTE 's "Highlights" programme last night, Sunday, unfortunately. I suffered through the rest of it waiting for Leonard's moment of glory, which never came ! Wondered if those who weren't there in person were "punished" by being left out, but at least two others were not there, including Christy Moore whom I was glad to see included. I hope Leonard gets the actual award anyway !

It's beautiful, that Leonard receives many awards, but awards should get Leonard a long time Long before.

Why noticed until Leonard now ?

Recognition is all well and good but recognition can chip away at the mystic that is associated with a unique performer such as Leonard and that can eventually destroy the legend. I prefer to be selfish and not share him with the rest of the world but just with his true fans

this is the second year that Leonard cohen award won the best internation live act, and was not shown on rte, whether that means , it was edited out or was not given out in the award ceromony. I would love to know why though, i emailed rte last year and they said they just showed what they were given. I think maybe that since there was probably no representatives from the Cohen camp, maybe Meteor didn't present the award live. I would hope that if Cohen was asked to attend or at least send a representative that it would be accomadated, considering, people spent a lot of money to go to him, surely then he shouldn't ignore such an award. If he did ignore it for a secnd year, i would be rather disappointed.

Yeah I was annoyed Len wasn't mentioned in the broadcast show. I doubt very much he ingnored the award but I don't think RTE can answer that question. I'll email Meteor tomorrow and ask them what is the situation and if they can't answer who can I contact to find out.

Was wondering did you get any reply from Meteor to explain why there was no mention of Leonard at the Meteor awards. I sent an e mail to Meteor after the event, and received a reply saying my query was being sent to the relevant department, which would respond. Nothing since; will be pleasantly surprised if I hear from them !
