Hi,

My name is Iarina, I am a Cohen fan..I've seen him recently on his european tour, he had a concert in Bucharest. I registered and I need your help, as you know a lot about LC. I am desperatly looking for a song, it's a tango song, absolutely superb, I listened it a few days ago on the radio. It was a woman in duet with Leonard Cohen. I had never heard the song before so I couldn't identify it. I have been doing researches on youtube and on the internet, but I don't know the name of the song and unfortunately I couldn't remember a single word of it. So I am asking you: do u know any tango song of Leonard Cohen? in duet with a woman? I don't fnd it anywhere.

Hi Maarten,

thanks , but it's not the song I am lookign for. It's really a tango....pure argentinian tango...and Leonard cohen sings at the end, at the beginijg it's only her voice. For two days now I've been trying to find it.... :?

Hi iarina

If you can recall any of the words, just a few here and there, I can pretty much guarantee there will be people who will identify the song for you.

I could identify Leonard's words before I could identify the tango rhythm.

Hi Iarina.
I'm happy to see another bucharestian around here, but you ask a very confusing question! Are you sure it was Leonard Cohen singing?
I can't think of any song that would sound like a tango, but I can tell you a few that start with a woman singing.
Boogie street: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rswKZ0PNY_0
Undertow: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H1ibNRs4y-4
Nightingale: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZGiF-NIb0f8
The Faith: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=79ImCDjmr4U

Sounds like any of these? Considering that you heard it on the radio-especially if it was a romanian radio show-it must have been a pretty well-known song and probably an album version, not some obscure cover.

Hi Laura,

Nice to find you here. Well I know I am asking somethign difficult. It was on romantic radio, and I don't think it was very known. I don't remember any words, because I focused on the song, we were many persons in the car and when I tried to identify the chorus, they didn't sing it.it's that kind of tango with long lyrics and no repeats. It's not a song from Leonard's albums, I would have recognized it. I think it was rather a collaboration with a female singer.
Thanks for the links but it was none of them. I think I should just give up, but the sing haunts me

Iarina - can you contact the radio station? Do they have a website with an e-mail contact address? They might be able to tell you.

Could it be one of Anjani's songs?

I think Laura's sussed it...it sounds like "Boogie Street". Perhaps Leonard will write another "Tango" song when he finds a word to rhyme with orange?!

I belive that Leonard has found such a rhyme, as he noted in a TV interview back in the '90s: "door-hinge."
(okay, it's two words, and it's not an exact rhyme, but as a poet, I think he's allowed "poetic licence"!)

I live in Abergavenny in South wales in the UK and we have such a rhyme. As I look out of the office window, rising up before me, looking like a huge burial mound, is the Blorenge mountain.!

"Blorenge" Mountain! Excellent! I will remember that the next time the "What rhymes with orange?" question comes up! (And it is surprising how often that happens!) Then I will astound people with my knowledge of mountains in Wales!

I think we have the same song in mind - and it's so not Leonard - Serhat & Viktor Lazlo - Total Disguise:

Were you thinking about this song?

Ticka, I think this was the song...his voice sounds amazingly well with Leonard's.

Many thanks!!!!!!!
