See there has been some hotel comments going around.

A local fan, Lee, has offered the following suggestions for those who want to be close to the venue:

On The Avenue http://www.ontheave-nyc.com/
The Lucerne http://www.thelucernehotel.com/
Woogo Hotel Woogo.com
The Beacon Hotel http://www.beaconhotel.com
The Milburn Hotel http://www.milburnhotel.com

We have also stayed at the Amsterdam Inn right around the corner... very reasonable tourist spot.

We are staying in midtown -- as John suggested, in NYC a couple of stops on the subway is no big deal. We opted for Milford Plaza, 45th and Broadway.

Hotel rates seem to be fortunately at an all time low, so everyone should be able to find something to their liking. Can't wait to see may old friends and make some new ones!

You can also try hotwire.com. Friends of mine who are often in New York on business use it regularly. You don't specify which hotel but which category and what part of Manhattan you'll like stay. After booking a couple of days before your trip you get the name of the hotel. It always worked out very well. They even lucked out with the Algonquin for less than 150 Dollars per night.
Hopefully I can book a room via hotwire later in the year for another concert...

I will pay less than 600€ for flights + 4 nights in a *** hotel. At least that's what the travel agency promised me

For those who care, we are booked in at the Milford as well. As good a deal as you could find for the quality and location i.e. not staying at a roach motel near an airport.

New York Times travel section, Sunday, January 18, has some suggestions. Http://www.hotelconxions.com has exclusive offers as low as $89 per night in NYC. For those who like upscale, http://www.nycgo.com/thirdnight has several high end spots who are giving a third night for free.

Good luck all. See you in February!

again too late..

but Partisan found the place I would recommend: The Milford, on West 76th.
a really good hotel to know about- near terrific food markets and only 2-3 blocks away from The Beacon.
