Watched this programme last night and the Jeff Buckley (I think) version of Halleluja was on.

The subtitles when it came on said Leonard Cohen....so at least he got the credit for the song

You are right ladies it was the dreadful Jeff Buckley version.
I'd know it anywhere. It's given me nightmares for years.
Buckley's version was also played at the very crucial and emotional ending of the German film the Edukators,
which is a brilliant film but such a dreadful shame about them not choosing Leonard's version.
Unfortunately a growing trend on film soundtracks these days.

This post disappoints me. Buckley's version of this song is an incredible achievement and LC owes much of his current popularity to its popularity. For me it was a very brave move for a young singer songwriter to use this as the centerpiece of their debut album. It also reminds me why I became a LC fan in the first place; one man struggling behind his guitar.

Buckley does this song brilliantly and any Cohen fan who can't hear that needs a to inherit some Cohen like humility.
