Famous Blue Raincoat by Marissa Nadler

Post by Mark A. Murphy »

Listen out for Marissa Nadler's cover version of Famous Blue Raincoat from her latest album, Songs iii - Bird on the Water. I think she has a beautiful voice.

Marissa is a Leonard Cohen fan, lists him as a major influence and has covered several of his songs. She is one of my favorite young and upcoming performers, reminding people of Joan Baez, Joni Mitchell and Laura Nyro, but of course, she has her own style and mostly writes her own songs. There are a lot of vids on YouTube, I filmed her at the Whitney Museum in NYC (see Youtube) and recently made a video for her first public performance, Ballad for an Amber Lady by Tom Rapp.

Thanks for the information, Lightening. Where can we get hold of her Cohen covers?
