Firstly, Jarkko, my sincere apologies, i had no idea of the extent of this blog (yes, i'm new) -- thanks for all your work.

ok now, take it easy Byron!!
It's too bad you are so upset about your degree course....you just wasted my time by your negative post ;-) Trust me, there are worse things in life...no hard feelings :)

Ok, everyone breathe and remember that we are here for the love of great music and poetry.

Byron wrote:All I can add to the responses to my 'grumpy old man' posting, is that you read between the lines and notice the timbre of jarkko's 'blue' posting. The man's self-restraint is there for all to read.

Just because it is someone's 'first post' does not mean that they can come tugging at grumpy old daddy's coat tails saying, "gimme, gimme, gimme."

Many people have added their thoughts and responses to what many others have written.

'Jumping the queue,'
'ignoring all the work done by others,'

would not get any marks for 'endeavour,' 'gold stars' for effort, or a 'mention in despatches,' from the majority of people in here who respect the time and effort put in by others.

Several years ago, I was part of a small group of students, who had been given a task to perform in relation to historical facts about local landmarks. Varying degrees of effort and time had been put into our individual contributions to the project, which would be assessed as one part of our Degree course.
One of our group, a young man who thought he knew it all, did nothing. When asked by the others why he had done nothing, he replied, "I couldn't be arsed." When it was pointed out to him that each member of the group would now lose vital marks for their individual Degrees, because he couldn't be arsed, he said he couldn't care less. All he was interested in was having an easy route through his Degree, at the expense of others. He was rewarded with the same marks as the rest of the group. He did nothing and reaped the benefits of the work of his fellow students. He got a decent mark for doing nothing and we got a reduced mark for all the work we had done.

Call me grumpy if you want to. I can live with that. ;-)

I think I've found The Woman
who will sit by my side
this night.....

She is beautyful
Dark, long hair
Like a dream
she is

She doesn't know yet
what the night will give her
The presents she will recive
The wine and fruit
The music

I think I've found The Woman
who will join me
for this, the nights og nights

Well, woman
I am still a single man
Living by myself
In solitude

The dark haired woman doesn't know
yet
And there is still 3 months untill the concert
There is a good chance I will spoil this, as I have
so many, many times before
By misunderstandings

I am sad to say;
there is a good cance that I will spoil this
(I don't even know if she likes Cohen)

But I will be there
with my suit tailormade the same year as "Death of a ladies man" came out

and if the woman called Dew is not with me
the seat next to me will be empty
And it will be all yours
It will be my pleasure to escort you
to this night
For I have waited so long....
And I would like it
if a woman was by my side

Come to Norway
where Mr. Cohen is bigger than life
Come to Norway
and sit with me
amongst 19998 other people

Is there no residual race-memory warning you to steer clear of Vikings?
Historically they have an unbounded enthusiasm to explore.... :?

Aaaaaaaaaahhhh
But the vikings are dead, and have been so for a long time.
No viking blood here anymore

You'll find them on Island

In this country
The black plague took the last of the vikings
The year was 1357

We are german/danish/swedish now......

And we are good ;)

But not so good, it seems, in the sartorial stakes. :D Might this have something to do with your lack of success with the ladies? -

You're digging a bigger hole for yourself! :D
Your suit tailored in 1977, for someone other than yourself.........

tinderella - not too sharp, I hope!.
Is your avatar a photo of those 3 bottles of wine you got for the Bank Holiday weekend?
Would you normally make and publicise a record of your excesses?
For the day that's in it, mine records 'every tree in North Dublin' (with apologies to the non-Irish reader) :D

It is in fashion today, good person
It is razor sharp
It makes me look gooooooooood

They don't make suits like that
anymore
I am sorry to say

This suit has a history
And it looks brand new

I might be digging a hole
deeper so
But that hole has a name
several, actually
"Style"
"Cooooooool"
"Sharp"
"Hot"

Where I live
In my world
I am so un-cool
that I'm cool

And I can get away with
a tailor made suit
for another man
