I just downloaded this 2nd version of Wiesbaden from dime (got the first one earlier), still have to listen it... But gathering information from around the board amd private communication with collectors, the common opinion seems to be that the three best recording so far are Roemesteinbruch St. Margarethen im Burgenland (aka Burgenland show), Wiesbaden (LTB's tape), and Salzburg (that one and Burgenland recorded by Juraj from Zagreb).

I must say that I rarely listened to the audience recordings from this tour, because I was annoyed that in time of digital recording and online streaming we have to have only audience tapes. So I listened to Montreal June 6 2008 (AMAZING sound) and of course radio broadcast from Beacon Theatre, NYC (February 2009). I have like 60 shows but never really bother to listen to it, except Moncton (May 2008) because in Summer 2008 it was still unbelievable that the tour will last and we all thought that our first show will be the last as well...

Recently I disocvered that shows taped by Tom Moore (TM recording) and LTB are good quality, as well german_rose.

Of shows I can mentioned as good quality are Berlin Aug 2010, and Berlin in 2009, plus Venice Aug 2009. I heard that Hamburg 2009 was considered to be the best recording (I heard that from "banalny", the legendary dime uploader, during the Krakow event).

Can anybody else comment on quality of recordings, which are outstandingly good, close to soundboard quality, like i.e. Salzburg 2010? I am specially interested as after the tour finishes I plan to edit real fan bootleg with every single song performed, in the best (imho) version, taped from audience. Ken will make the artwork, and we will distribute that compilation free via dime website, and probably in vine and via megaupload.

The first part of Wiesbaden is working well this morning. Sorry it was unavailable last night. In fact, it is worth trying to click 5 or 6 times on the link when you get the "temporarily unavailable" message. It does come up eventually.

Here are links to the LTB recording again:
Wiesbaden 2010 (Part 1 of 2): http://www.megaupload.com/?d=WPR200HC
Wiesbaden 2010 (Part 2 of 2): http://www.megaupload.com/?d=QEI7ONJ9

I listened to bits of the LTB recording last night and what I can say is that I don't understand why people can't shut their big fat gobs up when Leonard Cohen is singing. This happens eventually in the course of the concert, but I find this constant yapping during the songs to be so disrespectful to the artist, it's untrue!

Now, as far as Dime is concerned, I just wanted to give a few indications as to how to download directly from it, because it is relatively simple:
1. Download and install a Bittorrent application such as Vuze: http://www.vuze.com/
2. Register with Dime at http://www.dimeadozen.org/
3. Search for a non-copyrighted recording and click on the torrent link provided (the one in bold at the top)
4. Your download will either start automatically or you will be asked to confirm that you want to download it with Vuze.
5. That's it!
6. Remember to allow other users to also download from your recently downloaded file (i.e. to seed), so as to keep a healthy ratio of at least 0.25. You can do this by keeping Vuze open even when you are not using it to download. It is a bandwidth hungry application, so check what your Internet Provider's monthly usage allowance is so you don't run out.

There are also at least two other useful torrent databases in terms of Leonard Cohen recordings: HungerCity at http://www.hungercity.org/, and The Trader's Den at http://www.thetradersden.org/

Here are links to newly uploaded zipped Malmo and Berlin 2010 recordings in mp3 format:
Malmö - 04.08.2010 (source: unknown): http://www.megaupload.com/?d=B2RSHN2O
Berlin - 18.08.2010 (source: Duma, with thanks from Remote1): http://www.megaupload.com/?d=TVRBGJE3

I think you already mentioned some of the best recordings and you can always trust banalny. I like the idea of a world tour compilation very much and I'll check the shows I have for their audio quality.
I hope we'll find good quality recordings of each leg and each year of the tour so that we'll have recordings from many different shows as possible.
It would also be nice if to include some special announcements/introductions that Leonard Cohen had made at some concerts.

I don't have almost nothing from US legs, except Coachella, so - beside brand new tape from Dortmund - I am downloading four US shows from 2009 (it's very slow), among them that Matrix show as it sounds good according to descriptions (it seems I'll need few days to get it down). I also decided to spent my poor ratio downloading shows with peculiar setlists (i.e. I still don't have the first performance of Chelsea Hotel - which was SOLO - we will have to have three versions of Chelsea on that final bootleg, first and only solo version, the full band version, and brand new slow version from September 2010). It will be hell of a job, with all versions, poems (Flood, Anthem Yeats in Sligo), priestly blessing, variations of Recitation / A Thousand Kisses Deep, and new songs in their lyrics changes. I will have to check Maarten's PDFs as I am not sure do I have Avalanche. I surely do NOT have first version of So Long Marianne in different rhythm pattern, from May 2008. The earliest show I have is Fredericton and Hamilton - did anybody ever saw the recording of the very first show in Moncton?

...now you know when it comes to cataloguing and archiving concerts i'm the laziest man on earth...collecting and cataloguing bob's concerts as any serious music fan would expect is always a priority with i'm afraid leonard's stuff trailing some way behind.......but are you sure the moncton show wasn't in that bunch of cds i gave you in krakow?.....i know i have your list somewhere but i think it best to email me a list of those early shows you are missing ....and i promise to sort something out for definite this time before bob starts his tour of the universities next week...

......btw during the tour students can line up and pre-book concert tickets on their campus for only $22....non-students have to pay full price ($59 plus the usual extras) thru the usual agencies...bob hasn't done his usual tour of the state fairs this summer but in the past kids have always got in free to these concerts....if only the mighty KMMM (Kory Money Making Machine) had thought of the young and the well less off sometime during the last couple of years.........

.....now i wonder were i have put those two $250 second row tickets for las vegas?..... ta ken

Tom Moore did also record Stuttgart and it is up at Dime.

And it is nice to see a Scouser Artwork again! Seems that I lost track, but I remember well those many nice Dylan artworks way back when...

Grenoble - 17.09.2010 (source: gvataper @ Dime), with thanks from Remote1:
Grenoble 2010 (part 1 of 2): http://www.megaupload.com/?d=P2P2BV5V
Grenoble 2010 (part 2 of 2): http://www.megaupload.com/?d=LJW8DU0W

"Description: Leonard Cohen
September 17, 2010
Palais des Sports
Grenoble, France

As some of you know, I have not had much luck taping Mr Cohen. Managed to mess up Massey Hall Toronto 1988, Lyon 2008, Vienne 2009. Some would say that is a message. Yet, still Waiting for a miracle, I headed off to Grenoble last weekend and the results are, by my track record, pretty good. Disclaimer: this is not complete. I discovered an error when I downloaded the tracks which meant the file from the second set was corrupted. I managed to open 99% of the file, but missing is most of the last track. As those who have listened to my previous Cohen productions will attest, despite this error, on the whole the recording is very much a step in the right direction. Enjoy.

Source:

DPA 4023-->Oade ACM Marantz PMD661
1st set: 5th row, slightly off centre
2nd set + encore: 5th row direct centre

Master is 24/96, this file is 16/44

Normalizing, levels in Wave Editor and Sound Studio
Downsampling in Wave Editor with Izotope

Taper:

gvataper

Notes:

This is an incomplete recording of the concert, this is the entire file available from this source.

Also note, because taping location was slightly ahead of speaker stacks, while the sound was clean, it wasn't loud. Thus there is at times a loud variation between audience reaction and applause and the sound from the stage. This is more noticeable in the second set. First set levels were a little low and have had some gain added. Second set if anything levels were a little high and peaked during applause, set has been normalized and levels balanced a bit.

Sharon Robinson was absent from the line-up for this show.

NEW NOTE(Sept 25) Thanks to manolen noticing, I have been made aware of another mistake. The curse continues. I missed a split in one track: so t09 actually contains t09 and t10 and there is no t10. Strange strange strange. The split should be at 4mins20sec of t09.

The data is included, the split is missing.

My sincere apologies for this tracking oversight. Sorry!!!!

Ken, my mistake - I have Moncton on 2CD since July 2008 (I still remember how we waited for the FIRST bootleg to surface), and it was delivered by snail mail as I wasn't on dime back then... and indeed now I have an extra copy, it was among the discs you gave me... I was thinking on FREDERICTON, the very first show, May 11, 2008 - I don't have and I don't have info was it taped. I know there's Dance Me and another song on YouTube.

Btw, I am also very lazy... 60+ recordings with identical setlist... Jeez. I guess I'll keep myself busy only with trusted tapers, or simply hear the first track and decide is it sound quality good enough for compilation.

Is there any way to see which shows were taped, beside comparing your, my and neo's list of flac downloads from dime?

I guess banalny might be the best guess to be in possession of such a list... :)
http://www.leonardcohenlive.com/ is slow at updating the site, but maybe they have a list of known recordings.
I could also send an request to the Dime mailinglist, but I have no idea if we will be lucky...

JF's leonardcohenlive.com is closing down these weeks, and banalny is supposed to take it over, as far I know... I will investigate this further - if banalny has problems with taking over the site, I can at least park the mirror of it on my server.

I'm no expert but I think Dortmund is outstanding. Stuttgart and Hannover less good...
