The Man himself is on the cover of an album with a banana! Nooo, we would definitely be in the best company :D 8) :D .

Warmest regards,
Mary

(P.S. What a great incentive to finish your work early - to get back on the forum - with your bananas of course ;-) 8) )

LOL ~ Yeah, that was my point on his striking an album-cover pose... I'm sure he could do it  ... been-there, done-that, and all that jazz [police ;-) ].

Gotta go. OFF work now ;-) ! And by 10 minutes... serious relapse going on here.

Waaaaait a minute, you two! Just got home and I'm into the banana wars! :D I'm NOT lobbing any bananas onto the stage...remember, throws like a girl. ;-)

First off, they should be organic. I can pick them up at Whole Foods...no problemo. Secondly, I can't do it (remember, besides the girl thing...Row N). However, I DO know someone (name withheld 8) ) who happens to have a pit seat and perhaps we might prevail upon this upstanding, awesome lady to place the bananas discreetly at the right moment. 8)

er, I don't think I'd better attach any bananas to the helium balloon for fear that Fred jumps up, grabs the banana and then floats off to Windsor!

Diana

ps..what cover had the banana? I thought I knew them all. Also, we are probably waaaaaaay off topic here so....ahem..
When we meet up at the Fox we can all have bananas! Yes! :D :D ....back on topic!

New idea. Don't know how I'll work this in but when I worked for Hughes Airwest in Arizona and Nevada we were known as the "Top Banana in the West". Will have to think on this a bit, but may come up with something! :D

Diana (once a Top Banana!)

ps...how on earth could I get a photo of Leonard "striking a pose with a banana" when I'm in Row N?  Guess I'd better buy that super zoom lens......along with the iPhone (that's on the "addicted" thread...... ;-) )

"I'm Your Man," honey... ;-)

Quickest I could find... too small to see well, but still... if you look hard enough.

Now, as to the number of bananas... if this fine, upstanding lady in the pit should agree, I truly TRULY feel we ought to keep the banana at singular... Leonard's moment. Trying to pass out bananas in the beginning of the song could be more than cumbersome and uhm disruptive[?]... from the photos I've seen... Leonard was able to swoop down and pick up Fred... and let the blouse lie until just the right moment and then swing it over his shoulder. Trying to break apart a bunch of bananas and hand them out, etc. is really not my cup o' tea... if I have a say, of course... not knowing how the upstanding lady will feel about it... but wouldn't it be a drag if one of the bananas broke off [you KNOW how they do!] and then you have a bunch minus one... or a banana on the floor... or... or... or... my position in the Banana Wars is that 'we' go with one banana... for Leonard.

I agree that discreetly placing it oughta win out over lobbing it... no matter HOW on the mark someone's aim.

Ha. TOP BANANA, eh 8) ? Little did you know at the time of what significance that title would come to have... :D .

Bananas all 'round, before the show! Yes.

I have a recording of Leonard singing the 'Chiquita Banana Song' (from an old TV advert):
I wonder if he sings it to Fred?
I'm Chiquita Banana, and I've come to say
Bananas have to ripen in a certain way.
And when they are flecked with brown
and have a golden hue,
Bananas taste the best, and are the best for you.
You can put them in a salad. You can put
them in a pie - aye.
Anyway you want to eat them it's
impossible to beat them.
But bananas like the climate of the very,
very tropical equator.
So you should never put bananas in the refrigerator.
:)

Oh, and I meant to comment on that in the other thread, Davido! Wouldn't that be awesome if Leonard sang the song to Fred onstage  ? I remember the song from our TV commercials, too, Diana.

Good grief! I've had that cd for ages and just noticed the banana! Awesome...."and good for you too!".

Yes, and they are good for you! Perhaps, you might want to trade in a few bananas for some carrots, though, eh ;-) ?

... and see, now wouldn't that be an easy pose for him to replicate... if he had only ONE banana to contend with  ? [As you can see, I'm on a tear with the numbers of bananas... I won't even go in to Harry Chapin's song... 30,000 Pounds of Bananas ~ I'm afraid you might get ideas  .]

Okay, time to go to bed. I'm going to read KaimiK's thread on the Seattle show and that's it. This has been one busy day on the Forum, I'll tell ya. Reminds me of the old days  . Now, if you, Mary and Diana, could just keep going like this, you'd catch me in no time ~ do the math ;-) .

Off to read the thread... see you tomorrow NIGHT [if I can manage to stay away that long]. Seriously, got waaaaay too much to do this weekend to have another day like this tomorrow!

G'night.

Lizzy,

I looked at your math - 52.083 a week to catch up to you - easily do-able :o . But, hold on there girlie! How are Diana and I going to catch up with you when you have over 70 posts in one day   . You seriously need to go back to the 'I am a forum addict' thread and 'repent'. I hope you don't wonder what I meant  .

Ooops - back on thread - how are you plans coming along for your Detroit aside from all this banana tomfoolery   . No wait, this has to do with the concert, so it's okay - just because I said so ;-) .

Warmest regards,
Mary

To Walsh, Cara, and everyone else going to the Detroit concert and reading this thread,

We are really not totally insane women.....well, maybe just a little ;-) However, you need have no fear of being bombarded with bananas, or carrots, or little monkeys! Just keep an eye out for the helium balloon with "leonardcohenforum.com" on it (as if anyone else will be standing in the Fox lobby with a helium balloon  ) and come on over and introduce yourselves! Can't wait to meet everyone and it's only 2 WEEKS from today! :D

And Lizzy, I agree on the one banana limit. The vision of Leonard, on stage, attempting to divide up a dozen bananas is just too funny! Perhaps we can come up with a discreet, personalized little gift for Fred and give it to one of the band members pre-concert. That would solve everything :) Other ideas are still lurking in the recesses of my mind though!

All the best,
Diana

I check almost everyday the ticket situation for May 9..

For a couple of weeks there was Row 5 in Orc Sec 3 up for sale.

Well just checking TM.com now, they are offering Row 2 in Orc Sec 4!! So yes. Even at this late hour, depending on the day and luck, ppl may still be able to get the front rows. Ain't that a you know what?
