Hi Hartmut,

Not so easy. :) Parts of "Closing Time" could be used in such a commercial, inclusive of:
"I loved you for your beauty / but that doesn't make a fool of me:." I would not be willing to
bet that "Closing Time" is what you have in mind.

Hi Steven,

Yes, Closing Time could be used for a lot of products.

But, as you suspected, it's not the song I have in mind.

I said "an easy one" 'cause I didn't use synonyms to disguise the body parts involved.

Hm ... what else? ... The song is much older than Closing Time. And it's not an obscure one. That would be a good way to describe it.

Hi Hartmut,

It could be "Hey, That's No Way To Say Goodbye" because of:
"I loved you in the morning, our kisses deep and warm / your hair upon the
pillow like a sleepy golden storm." The lyric is visual and sensual and would
be a perfect fit, i.m.o., for such a commercial.

Of course, it couldn't be "Slow" because of the hints in your above post. However,
two lines from it could make for great copy for a print ad or commercial:
"A weekend on your lips / A lifetime in your eyes."

Hi Steven,

Yes, you're right.

There's also a line about eyes in that song.

True. - Now you've found three songs that fit my description. So I think it's fair to say it's your turn now.

Hi,

In a scenario that has nothing to do with a Leonard Cohen song, a casting director offers a role
to an actor in an upcoming Commedia dell'arte play. The actor responds in the affirmative
with a line from a L.C. song. What is the line and what song is it from?

Hm ... tricky.

This is the only answer I can offer:

"I know my place"
("The Traitor")

Hi Hartmut,

Hadn't anticipated the answer you provided, though it's correct.

Hint: There's something very much associated with the style of the play. That something
is used by actors when they perform roles in plays of that style (Commedia dell'arte).

Oh, ok; that was actually my first thought, but I dismissed it for some reason.

"I'll wear a mask for you"
("I'm Your Man")

There's an LC ... song that actually (kind of) mentions our game.

The ... song also mentions superior competitors of the author.

And mentions a Golem-like being that children like to create.

And the necessity of deception.

Now the riddle is almost too easy, again.

A part of this song probably takes place on New Year's Eve.

Hi Hartmut,

Is it "A Thousand Kisses Deep"? If not, may try to build a few golem to
try to find the answer. ;-)

You've found the correct answer even without the help of a Golem.
