My dearest Lordship,

Thank you for sending me that lovely bouquet of violets.. and while traveling too.. it
must have a set you back some, and I imagine was rather tricky to pull off.. and so I
most sweetly and tenderly thank you..
.. (amazing how they're still alive, even)..
... now, I know you're busy being terribly charming 'n everything, but I thought I'd
scrawl out a quick little note for you to glean bits 'n pieces of as you're dashing this
way and that..
.. so, anyway.. things atop the tower are a bit topsy turvy of late.. but then I think I
may be speaking of my insides, and not this old cracked tower, which, nonetheless,
will probably break open and have me tumbling down into the mote below when I
least expect it.. of course, you might think this take on things conveys something of
the tragedian in me, but I say it's just the opposite.. I mean, given I've always had a
thing for Fawlty Towers..
... (you know, there are people who get paid for jokes like that)..
.. ANYWAY.. such is life at a volatile place such as Cumalott..
.. actually.. I'm trying to recall some of what I read of Losers last weekend when I
was visiting a castle upstate aways, and resting rather peacefully beneath a -- well, a
rather noisy apple tree, as it happens. Actually, I think I now understand what certain
cartoonists were up to when they seemingly exaggerated their animations of little
critters 'n things.. such as squirrels, for example.. I mean there they were, maybe half
a dozen of them or so.. zestily tearing into these little ripe apples, their sharp little
teeth going retro-typewriter crazy, a million sloppy chomps a second -- with pits 'n
pulp a flyin'.. little packed squirrel cheeks squirting out juices this way and that.. apple
cores 'n chunks of fruit attacking the garden shed's tin roof like mad kamikazes.. and
meanwhile, these itty bitty birdies.. (some on phone wires, my lord).. getting all
twittery and upset.. bugs noisily buzzing around.. neighbors' dogs barking.. long
weeds 'n grasses all a' rustling..
.. my god.. and I thought cracking open a book and taking in some nature was thought
to be a quiet sport..
.. so.. anyway, my Lordship.. (I actually had to put the book down for a good long while,
given I was just so mesmerized by it all)..

.. so, anyway, my lord.. (as I was trying to get to before on the Beautiful Losers front)..
.. now, it seems that poor Catherine Tekakwitha was able to avoid being married off by
her aunts when she was just a child (even though such practice was customary).. though it
did look like she was going to be gang raped for a second there -- or am I thinking of our
narrator's wife, when she was young? Yes, it was poor young Edith who was being chased
and was about to be deflowered, as it were.. especially due to her.. hmm.. her.. oh, gosh,
and I was going to try and make this an utterly charming note, and not foul or debased
seeming.. or anything too untoward, even.. (I just love that word: untoward).. so.. anyway..
especially due to Edith's extremely long.. oh, I'll just say it: nipples. There. I mean, that's
really not so bad a word, I don't think. It's just that hers were like.. oh, I don't know.. three
inches long.. I mean, when she was.. well, you know, when she was.. [sigh].. anyway, these
nipples of hers managed to get under the skin (so to speak) of nearly the entire town, it
seemed.. so much so, it was just a matter of time before.. well, before she'd wind up being
chased down by this group of sex crazed Indian dudes.. and so it was WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN..
what I'll call a kind of "waterfall," let's call it.. (so to avoid any "untowardness").. (actually,
I'm referring to "piss," by the way, lest I leave you entirely mystified).. so, anyway.. the sound
of her piss alone seemed to have rendered her attackers', um, thingamajigs.. (down there, I
mean).. rather limp and useless.. [which is good to remember, girls.. those times when you're
about to be gang raped]..
.. ANYWAY.. moving on to Catherine.. now, Catherine, as I said, managed to evade marriage
at an early age.. actually, I don't recall how or if she escaped severe punishment for this..
although, I do think she must have been forced to suffer something or other for not complying,
as it were.. (seems she was able to run away, and so disrupt the little ceremony).. anyway, the
point is-- what is my point?.. oh, that, as far as punishment goes, she was always busy toiling
away anyway.. I mean, what could the aunts possibly do to her?.. sever her working-slavishly-
and-joyfully privileges??)..
.. okay.. so it was YEARS LATER, when Catherine was a young woman, that there entered a very
handsome young brave.. all braun, it seems.. though he might have had some smarts too.. who's
to say.. I mean, that wasn't really the issue at that point.. (the issue instead being that he was,
um, well endowed, let's say).. (I mean, does a swan's neck give you some idea??).. (and he
was grasping it too, under his watcha-ma-call-it thingy that Indian braves wear down there)..
(some first date, huh?)..
.. anyway.. thus it was, that when he entered Catherine's home, and saw her there.. sewing, or
what have you (since she was always busying herself with something terribly terribly useful).. well,
anyway, once Catherine took a very shy little peek at this great big hunk of a marital prospect, she
realized right then and there that she was really and truly a woman.. (you know.. as pertaining to..
down there, I mean).. (you know, when a woman-- oh, never mind)..
.. ANYWAY.. this was news.. (i.e., apparently, she'd never had that feeling before)..
.. okay -- oh, but this is getting rather lengthy, and I'm running out of vellum here.. but I shall sum
up by saying that some sort of -- well, depending on your perspective, I guess.. but.. some sort of
miracle or anti-miracle occurred.. and.. hmm.. how shall I put this?.. let's just say that physio-
metaphysically speaking, as it were.. something unbearable (for her, I mean) took place.. (down
there, I mean).. accompanied by.. I don't recall, exactly.. or, well, a grinding machinery sound..
sort of.. or something excruciating like that.. having to do with this sense her being "severed".. or,
well, her "thing" down there being severed.. (or, at least, metaphysically speaking).. and.. I don't
know how this works, exactly, but it was as if she hurled the bloody and severed body part out into
space.. never to be heard from or seen again.. (alas).. (although, not really, as it was still there,
in fact)..
.. [I would add that I am tired.. and that this whole description is very lazy and crappy]..
.. ANYWAY.. thus is was that our poor lonely Indian woman saint remained a Virgin.

.. Now, what this has to do with me.. or you.. (my lord).. WELL.. I guess it's somewhat true that in
relation to you, I remain a virgin.. (though maybe not literarily speaking).. Still.. it may be true that
this Lordship virginity of mine.. waxes and wanes through some manner of eternal pining.. (metaphysical
even.. I mean.. who's to say)..
.. AND SO IT IS.. (and I'm doubtful that this part has anything to do with Catherine Tekakwitha at all)..
(although I'm not too sure that what I'd just said prior to this had anything to do with her either).. but..
anyway.. SO IT IS.. that I await that unforseen time wherein the gods of love take pity on -- well, at the
very least, me (I should think).. and decide to roll the dice on, well, us (as it happens), in order to find
out how things turn out in Ever After Land.. all of which is to say, my lord.. that it's for the gods of love
to decide.. and therefore has very little to do with what we mere mortals might contrive..
.. There. That actually gives me a little solace before saying good-night to those lovely little violets you
sent me.. and then tucking my poor, atrophying, Lordship-love-lorn body in bed..
.. ever and ever,
your hopeful little v i o l e t (stem).. xx x..

edits.. just having my morning tea and tweaking this an itty bit..
.. later edit.. I should never have come back here.. what a mess..
.. even later edit.. gosh.. I came back here again.. the right margin alone is trouble.. (oy)..

.. okay.. in doing my usual: oh, let-me-look-up-that-word-again-just-to-make-sure-I'm-using-it-correctly line of research, I came across something interesting in the entomological department concerning this word.. I'll highlight the part I thought you, Queen Cate, and perhaps Her Baronessa of the [something something] Imagination.. [can't quite come up with something too great at the moment, and thus, the "something something"].. anyway, thought that maybe you'd both like a little background data..

tra·vail (tr-vl, trvl)
n.
1. Work, especially when arduous or involving painful effort; toil. See Synonyms at work.
2. Tribulation or agony; anguish.
3. The labor of childbirth.
intr.v. tra·vailed, tra·vail·ing, tra·vails
1. To work strenuously; toil.
2. To be in the labor of childbirth.
[Middle English, from Old French, from travailler, to work hard, from Vulgar Latin *triplire, to torture with a tripalium, from Late Latin triplium, instrument of torture, probably from Latin triplis, having three stakes : tri-, tri- + plus, stake; see pag- in Indo-European roots.

the history of words can be interesting

that sounds pretty easy to construct – you know it’s a nice day out
… why always go to the dungeon - frankly it’s a bit dark and dingy down there.
Let’s build one of these in a field and get our dungeon dwellers a little sunshine. Good idea Princess!

.. okay, I'm quoting this material, given a very astute observer, whose identity shall remain anonymous (for some probably important reason, which I just haven't come up with yet).. anyway (again, as astutely reported to me), it seems, as is usual with internet-obtained info., that there are some, well, mistakes.. or there is at least one, in this instance:

.. now, 'triplire,' it seems, should be: 'tripaliare'.. [so there's evidence here of an aversion to 'a's for some reason].. now, this would make sense.. [the correction I mean, not the aversion].. given the word "tripalium," which does have that 'a' in there.. then again the Latin "triplium," is now starting to trip me up.. hmm.. I guess I could look all of this up at a site I trust, or even use my new ancient Random House, unabridged dictionary, which I just found on the street in a very expensive neighborhood (weighing a ton, and barely even used).. but then I do trust my anonymous tipper implicitly.. and anyway, that Random House dictionary is so old it won't include all the travesties to the English language that we are all presently in the midst of enjoying.. now, I don't know if such travesties extend to words having to do with instruments of torture, but if so, it would no doubt be just another example of doing to words what said instruments seek to do physically to their victims.. which is one way to view all of our linguistic demise, I should think..

.. okay.. MOVING ON..

.. well, Queen Cate.. I heartily agree that this particular little torture device you've got pictured there could be set up right out in the sun -- using no enclosure at all -- so that one might get a nice tan while being tortured.. I believe that's called "killing two birds with one stone".. (wonder where that expression came from, by the way?.. I have a feeling his Lordship might in some way be responsible, but I'll need to look into that further as it's just a preliminary hunch.. actually, come to think of it.. I think his original statement was "killing two birds on a wire with one stone".. which takes a bit more dexterity, I would imagine)..

.. okay, here's a little word history I just found.. I'd note, though, I found neither 'triplire' or 'tripaliare' in either my Random House or the little Langenscheidt [shorter] Latin dictionary I have (which has no doubt axed something vital to this discussion given this "shorter" scenario)..

Main Entry: 1trav·el
Pronunciation: trav-l
Function: verb
Inflected Form(s) -eled or -elled; -el·ing or trav·el·ling /-(-)li/
Etymology: Middle English travailen "torment, labor, strive, journey," from early French travailler "torment, labor," from an unrecorded Latin verb tripaliare "to torture," from Latin tripalium "an instrument of torture," literally "three stakes," derived from tri- "three" and palus "stake, pale" --related to 3PALE, TRAVAIL
1 : to journey from place to place or to a distant place
2 : to move or advance from one place to another <the news traveled fast>

Word History: with our modern cars, ships, and airplanes and our many restaurants and hotels, travel today is not difficult. But in the Middle Ages roads were poor and places to eat and sleep were far apart. Travel was hard, uncomfortable work -- even torture. In fact, our word travel comes from a Latin word that meant "torture." Many devices were used in the Middle Ages for torture in an effort to force confessions from persons accused of crimes. One of these devices, called in Latin a tripalium, gave us our word travel. The word tripalium, literally "three stakes," was derived from Latin tri-, meaning "three" and palus, meaning "stake, pale." This word is thought to have been the source of the Latin verb tripaliare, meaning "to torture." In early French the word became travailler, with both the meaning "to torment" and the meaning "to work hard." This early French word was taken into Middle English as travailen, with the meaning "to work hard" and "to travel." In time these two meanings became separated into different words, travail, which means "hard work," and travel, which means "to go on a trip." [from "Word Central," sponsored by Merriam-Webster]

.. (by the way, my Lordship.. I do hope your travels have not been a travail, especially in the Middle English sense (sort of).. I guess most of us know that travel can be a nasty business, but that the word itself derives from ‘tripalium,’ an instrument of torture.. well.. I guess that says it all..
.. sweet travels, at any rate, and if some travel attendant or something offers to have you sit in some form of uncomfortable looking contraption involving three stakes of some kind—actually, let us know, as that would be rather interesting to hear about)..

CUMALOTT NOW..

Okay.. now I KNOW we need a new angle here, story wise.. this Kissingham kingdom is going to stultifying ruin if we-– okay, if I don’t find a way to jazz things up a bit..

.. anyway.. for now.. (as I’m short on magnificent ideas).. and there's no way I can write a summer-upper poem as well as Lady Kissy K.. so.. in lieu of that, I figure I’ll just make a list as to where things are at Cumalott Now:

1. Sir F. has returned to the region, after his travailes.. Now, he's supposed to be spying -- oh, correction, he was spying on the evilish queen.. though I don't recall getting anything new on Henning.. well, except for that Sadist tape thing I posted.. and yes, Henning has an eye for scary golden masks 'n things.. and surviving being quartered.. (but one wouldn't expect less from one's Public Enemy No. 1).. Okay.. so.. awaiting something on Henning, as usual.. [oh and.. psssssssssssssst.. kw--uh, bond bon.. I AM ABOUT TO BE FIRED IF YOU DON'T GET ME SOMETHING DECENT ON THIS 'H' PERSON.. SO.. EVEN IF YOU HAVE TO FABRICATE SOME DOCUMENTS OR SOMETHING -- JUST ANYTHING, AT THIS POINT.. (ONLY, IF YOU DO FALSIFY DOCS, DON'T TELL ME.. THAT WAY, WHEN THE PROVERBIAL **IT HITS THE FAN, YOU GET TO BE THE FALL GUY SINCE I WON'T REALLY KNOW ANYTHING).. okay.. so.. WISE UP.. (actually, scratch that -- it's best you remain somewhat silly, since you won't realize how ugly this spy business really is, and possibly quit the whole racket).. alright.. so.. just get me something, for Pete's sake.. "M"]..

2. Well, I hear tell the king is back, and Lady Kissy K. has resumed her sword polishing duties.. (I think she may need oral surgery at this point, actually).. as Agent Orange, she is SUPPOSED TO BE trailing this little bond person, keeping him from **cking up too much.. but, between the precariousness of daring dangerous feats in her stilettos, along with her overall laissez-faire attitude.. well.. we’ll see.. I may have to have the Duchess I.F. give her a good reminding as to how to get things done: i.e., quickly, painfully [if necessary], and with stingingly tangible results..

3. As to the evilish Queen Cate and the sweetest princess this side of Texas.. (moi, in other words).. we are planning a brief world tour, after having hooked up as a duo of sorts in the field of etymological research.. Now, given our specialty is in words that in some manner have to do with torture, it seems our new book: “Words That In Some Manner Have To Do With Torture,” is a huge success.. (gosh, and I thought my Shakespeare material was the way to go.. he’ll probably be long gone and buried, as people are still pantingly turning to page [something something] [of our book, I mean] which examines words that [something something] when torturing [something something] having sexual, even criminal, bizarrely perverse [something something].. [okay, I admit it.. I’m getting lazy].. [bad timing, too, considering I'm an etymologist]..

3. a. Now Queen Cate is once again cooking up something [there's that word again] for Sir F.. not sure what.. She is also romantically falling for Henning, whom she works out with [daily] in her torture chamber.. (although Henning is playing hard to get.. actually, he's quite shy.. which is sort of funny if you think about it).. Oh, and she’s thinking of ways to torture King G. since she feels he’s being too lax with this here pleasant little kingdom of ours. I have no idea what she plans.. but my efficient white dove has been giving me clues, given he's always spying on people, and then blabbing about it.. this, in exchange for extra bird feed, as well as bird baths with scented oils ‘n things.. which are really getting to be pretty difficult to set up –- what with the pullying up of water to the top of the tower.. oh, and the laborious grinding of flower essences ‘n such.. followed by my unaccountable need to rub my entire body with these oils ‘n essences ‘n things.. after which I usually wind up throwing myself down on my shorn little tattered princess bed.. where I toss and turn.. and.. well, torture myself, as it happens.. with dreams of.. well.. us.. (my lord).. and

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SOpei8RZp4I
FULL SCREEN..

.. edit.. I took another gander at this.. and I'm supposed to be leaving in just a sec too.. anyway, found a few errors, now corrected [Sweet Princess Violet (flower), a.k.a., Ms. Violet M. Peabody]..

Dearest SPV(f)'M'

I am trying to trail this little bond person but he's so small I keep losing him!(i've fallen over him twice!)

Have resumed sword polishing duties, but King G is still recovering from the Hallucinogenic effects of Leonard Cohen...May last some time...

I have tried all sorts to bring him out of it but he just keeps saying 'Dance me to the end of love'....(don't worry I will keep trying untill i get the desired response)...

Did find some footage on Hennig but had had a few so can't remember where i saw it...(sorry)...He was playing and singing and you could see him properly....will have to try and remember!!!!!!!

.. gosh.. what a lovely life you seem to lead, Lady Kissy K.. outside the castle I mean.. single malt on Wednesday.. more single malt on Friday.. and some sexy singles, perhaps, to go with all that sexy single malt..

.. I've actually stopped my hot sake schtick for now.. I'm doing this-- or, well, I'm considering doing this kind of "fast" sort of thing.. or at least I'm threatening myself with it.. somehow I feel the need to do something like that.. I'm in this terribly difficult place of "not knowing," as it were.. it's driving me slightly insane.. so.. need to maybe go inward.. take some stock of things..

.. however, earlier today, I felt myself falling into this place of utter disillusionment.. Only then.. (miraculously enough).. I somehow managed to put the breaks on that, realizing, yet again, how I can be very resourceful at times.. in a worldly sense, I mean.. (sometimes I forget that).. and I can work through all the businessie nonsense, if need be.. I mean, artists have to find ways of doing this.. they have to work through all the b.s.. it's not fair, in a way.. I mean, we really should be focused on the art part mostly.. but it's the way of the world, it seems.. so.. after re-realizing all of this I somehow felt lighter.. and my sense of humor seemed to surface again.. and.. well..

.. [sigh]..

.. I guess this change in attitude doesn't exactly bring his Lordship to me.. but I'm at least in better shape to endure all of this pining I tend to do.. so.. I guess it's just to keep holding on to this fine gossamer thread of heaven.. but maybe just gently.. I mean.. I probably shouldn't pull on it too much or it could snap.. (or, possibly I could snap).. so.. just gently.. and that's really all I can do for now.. (romantically speaking)..

.. okay.. so.. if you find that Henning material, Lady Kis-- uh, Agent Orange, that could help.. I'm not sure what identity he's assuming these days since the queen keeps things locked up pretty tight in that cellar of hers.. so.. 'twould be good to know..

bye for now (heading up to that squirrel-infested castle upstate),
s.p.v. (fl.). xx x

.. later edit: thought it should be string "of" heaven, not "to" heaven, which seemed a sort of death wish, I started thinking.. (my lord)..

Dear SPV(f)

Have found Henning footage…doesn’t seem to be in disguise (unless Henning is a disguise). But at least you can see him, not like the footage the little bond person found….

Oh just thought I’d mention ‘M’ maybe best if you turn the video off as soon as you’ve watched Henning… As I couldn’t shorten the clip…

Dear SPV(f)

See I told you I can’t get anything out of him but ‘Dance me to the end of love’
I think he may have had an LC overdose (if that’s possible).

I suppose I could try polishing his sword again, that usually perks him up…I think he likes to see it all shiny…

Then again I could always take him to the stables…I know he used to like the stables…That might jog his memory...We had to spend the whole night in there once…The things we did to keep warm! Oooooh he's bound to remember that…I think he had that snake of his with him, you know the one that kept being sick...Maybe I should give the snake a tug and see what comes up…

If all else fails I could do like the man says and ‘Dance him to the end of love’
