No, no Dame Llon, you were meant to have followed my last line (or at least acknowledged the "subtle" joke)
I thought I did.........didn't you hear the applause?

Now what? calculated risk or Wikipedia? We need a moderator.

Are oxymorons
comparatively unique
calculated risks
whoops, looks like we were working at the same time, but on a technicality I think "unique" has 3 syllables, therefore you are disqualified and must pay a large fine.

we have none of those here, just extremists. but if I am right about the received pronunciation of "unique" then this important Constitutional Issue is resolved.

I beg to differ - unique = you neek = 2 syllables, at least where I come from. Fine?

You keep doing this.......judge and jury rolled into one! Don't think Constitutional is your forte, M_1. I'm with Gypsy on this one.

In Aristocratic Circles we pronounce it with a raffish upward lilt at the end. I was unsure how ordinary people mangled it, but your elucidation is most welcome and provides me with an intriguing glimpse of the world of the common person. I will now need to sit down for a while and recover.

For the sake of that well-known hairspray I shall concede.

Have you sufficiently recovered? I thought your aristocratic earnings depended on a familiarity with the common person. Masterclasses available, for a fee, of course.

I have resolved the ongoing pronunciation controversy scenario issue problem of "unique". It is neither 2 syllables, as contended by Sir Raggletagglegypsy, nor 3 as contended by Lord Michael.

My dictionary says " Unique- only one".

So we were both wrong and must both be banished immediately from further entering this competition.

I most certainly have not yet recovered. It may take some time.

I demand a recount and not by Lizzy.
Why are you Lord and I'm only Sir. Not oneupmanship I hope?
