exciting news can not wait

Popular Problems, New Album, 80th Bday

by POZEST
I knew another album was coming; I thought it would be next year.
I just read the new album is likely to be released 'shortly' after his 80th b-day.
I thought it would be Leonard receiving gifts and bday wishes, but I feel like I am the one receiving the gift; of a new album.
As LC would say, "Thank you friends".

Even more than that, Goldin!
From the Spanish press, Jarkko has been upgraded:
http://soundandvisionmex.com/2014/08/11 ... en-puerta/
..."In the middle of a fan event held in Dublin last week, Leonard Cohen asked
his own manager Jarkko Arjatsalo (who lso handles his social networks and website) to announce the release of his new studio album next September.
Its title will be "Popular Problems" and will be released on September 22nd, a day after the 80th birthday of Mr. Cohen. Besides that, there is no official information.
"He asked me to announce that 'Popular Problems' will be released in late September, shortly after his 80th birthday (21)" Jarkko said.

Well, if I get more promotions like this, my career may next reach the hights of the prime minister in Finland
Seriously speaking, I emailed Rolling Stone that my websites are not *official* (only
http://www.leonardcohen.com is). Now they seem to have changed the text to *authorized* which is also a bit misleading.
This process shows again how an avalanche can nowadays start from a short mention, in our case from just two lines in a little booklet of a private gathering. And, as usual, the press adds "facts" they take out of the blue, without checking them at all. This Spanish quote is a good example.

Perhaps you deserve to be, Jarkko! Maybe we could erect an armchair in your honour beside LC's bench on Hydra!

The German and French Amazon websites have removed the upcoming album from their stores! Any idea why?

They should not list the releases before the official announcement (which is still to come).
The Scandinavian
www.cdon.se is listing both the vinyl and cd. Here is the CD:

6. My Oh My (c)
Goldin,
My Oh My is almost identical to the song Banjo on the Old Ideas album, at least musically (it even includes the same bridge).
My Oh My:

Banjo:

So I'd say My Oh My has been released already, albeit with another name and with other lyrics. Anyone with me?

Prefer your more specialist role - anyway i'm sure i'm not the only forum member who has no idea who the prime minister of Finland is !
it is a good recognition of the importance of this forum to leonard that his management seem happy to allow news of the new album to spread globally via the forum connection. Looking forward to 'totally official' confirmation.
By the way we woke up this morning to the awful news of the death of Robin Williams.
There doesn't seem to be an obvious forum section to simply say RIP, which - though there isn't an obvious leonard connection- for sure some of us would wish to.
Maybe a connection is that Serious Depression is a 'common problem' and we may take one meaning of 'popular' to be 'common/frequent'. It's a serious issue that Leonard has addressed in his life and work, and that he encourages us to acknowledge whenever /if ever it arises in ourselves and those around us.
