Are we talking about the same Hercule Poirot, Linda? He was a pedant dandy and a maniac of order, a brilliant man, but ridiculous when taking himself seriously to the utmost, which he was doing all the time. No need to thank me one more time, I take it for granted now, but if you want to do so, be my guest.
L. I wish you the best for the rest. How strange that others are writting for you in the forum, you who are so prolific.

Safe arrival in Chester at lunchtime today. Currently Pete, Rob, Byron and Paula are enjoying the birdsong in my back garden. Lizzy is talking on the phone to Andrew McGeever and persuading him to come to Berlin next year. Will attempt to take a couple of pictures and get them on here!

"birdsong in my back garden" (sic).
I'll tell you something: there was birdsong on the phone, in their kitchen, in the "livingroom", and the bathroom too.
And it wasn't Lizzy's fault : the blame lies with the company she keeps.
Guitars were being tuned as I bade my farewell.
Andrew.
P.S. Have a safe journey to Athens, Pireaus, and hydrofoil or ferry to Hydra, all of you beautiful losers
yer Andrew.

Thank you everyone for all your well wishes. I'm having an incredible time fulfilling my dream and doing my best to wake up as I go. England is awesome. Awesome.
Meeting these people in their homes is making a trip beyond compare. Phil [Phillipa]. Pete and Liz. Margaret and John. Then, Rob at M&J's.
Aaaaaaaannnnnnnnd......................................Paaaaaaaaullaaaaaaa!!!
Delightful Paula! In America, we have a ditzy sitcom called Everybody Loves Raymond. Remove the ditz and change the name, and there you have Everybody Loves Paula! The surprize guest! The unexpected call-in was Andrew McGeever. Good things are worth waiting for with this whole group! Incredible hosts ~ all of them!
Now ~ Paula! There we were, in the midst of reading Susanne's clever, clever poem and I needed to know what "yeoman" means. After John read us the dictionary definition, I asked him to read what it says for "flirt." Here it is [verbatim] ~ the
Concise Oxford Dictionary [Oxford = England, right

?] ~
Flirt: v. 1. behave in a frivolously amorous or sexually enticing manner. 2a. superficially interest oneself b. trifle 3. wave or move briskly 4. move or cause to move with a jerk. n. 1. a person who indulges in flirting 2. a quick movement; a sudden jerk.
Well, gotta go. See you tomorrow night, Paula

.
Love, and thank you, truly, everyone,
Lizzy

Dear Elizabeth, like I said, it's the fault of the company you keep that offers you such a blinkered view of this blighted island.
There's a much smaller one on the horizon....Hydra.
Last time I was there was '77.
It must have changed since then, not too much I hope.....some things have to remain the same.
As aye,
Andrew.
P.S. Pete, Paula, Rob, it was
so good to speak to you!

You've taken on a pretty big assignment helping out on this one, haven't you, Pete

?

And it was
SOOOOOOOOO good talking to
you, Andrew

!
Thank
you, Rob

, for train'ing all this way to participate in your first-ever gathering, and for smiling in one of those subsequent photos [I noticed

]. It was so good to finally meet you! A lovely size group for initiation, and one which Andrew is right to suggest that they could skew the perception of
any area

. England, however, can stand fully on its own.......especially Nuneaton. The Rolling Stones played there before they became famous, leaving their indelible mark of greatness, y'know. Or, was that George Eliot?

Well, no matter. Greatness is greatness. It can be found just anywhere,
can't it? You really should come to Nuneaton, and let Pete show you around

.
Love,
Lizzy

Can somebody get this disillusioned, jet-lagged woman to bed?
Too much tequila, ouzo, or that daft warm English beer me -thinks
It's getting late; I have work tomorrow,
Andrew.

Nuneaton has its own pyramid towering the skyline....beat that!
I was going to show Lizzie the statue of George Eliot but it wasn't there .. a delivery lorry had collided into it.

Well, I'm glad to learn that the modernisation is aspiring to provide a 'welcoming environment'.

Hi Rob
No connection at all with that news item.. I think you're taking the p*ss
The pyramid of Nuneaton used to be mentioned by Terry Wogan quite regularly as a distinctive feature of Nuneaton,,, together with the ring road which goes through the centre of the town
Back to the pyramid... it has a name..nothing exotic.. it's called Mount Judd.
There's a picture of it at the bottom of this link with an enlightening commentary prior to it.

anyway.. I don't live there no more.. I got deported to Matlock... the Matlock which has a castle that isn't a castle.
Good to see you yesterday.. hope you had a good journey back.
Pete
