I advise the moderators to pay careful attention to the posts here, and delete any posts where they feel that discussion has been provoked that is not relevant to the main topic. Note the definition of internet trolls - people who repeatedly post messages in an internet community where their views are generally not welcome, and with the intention of causing disruption (sad people)!
Your approach is dishonest. This is a thread about Collins' concerts. I attended one of her concerts and have commented on something that happened there. You were quite happy to join in the conversation and then all of a sudden instead of responding you talk about my posts being deleted. Anyone would think that it's because you can't answer my post/don't like my post, the post that responded to your comments, and need to call on some help.

Your comments, the comments I was replying to, included "efc may not realise it, but the singers who represent all of these movements actually carry a message in their songs and words, rather than just sing pretty tunes." Clearly that was a bit of a pop at me, and does the "message in their songs and words" include left wing views by any chance. The answer may well be yes :)

Thiis isn't about the Music or Politics forum, it's about your not liking a contrary opinion.

Byron wrote:John E. I have a simple answer to such interlopers.

I set the username of certain persons to 'Foe' in my personal profile settings.

What happens is that whenever one of those people contributes to a thread such as this one, all that shows on my screen is that '******' has posted, and I ignore that/those posting(s).

As far as your latest posting is concerned, I too have sent the definition of a Troll to various friends on the Forum.

It is important that the moderators are informed of anything which becomes 'suspect,' especially as a theme starts to emerge. For example, a thread in which the influences of Zen lifestyles are discussed, becomes a place where Margaret Thatcher, Attila The Hun, Adolf Hitler and Sarah Palin are constantly appearing with repetative nauseum.

I can say that I seldom notice the short line which tells me that someone I want to ignore has actually sent a contribution to an ongoing thread. It leaves me totally free to enjoy other people's postings.

They would do something would they, to save the world presumably. A moderator would only intervene if, like Tim has done before, he/she uses his'her position as a moderator to give effect to his/her political views. You and your ilk seem to have convinced yourselves that the very fact that someone should express a contrary opinion is some sort of crime against humanity. You might want to get out of your basement more often.

John Etherington wrote:Tony - inevitably all subjects will come to the surface at some point, because the unfoldment of a musical counter-culture through the protest singers, Dylan, Leonard, Neil Young and everyone else that most of us hold dear has encouraged people to think about political hypocrisy, social injustices, spiritual matters etc when discussing music. However, when posters start to show pathological tendencies in their reactions to such things, there are limits as to how far other forum members can act as psychotherapists!

All the best, John E
You seem to have forgotten that this is all about Collins attacking Palin, and my responding.

EFC, I really must apologise for not being able to read your contributions.
May I refer you to my previous posting regarding 'Foe' issues ?
Have a nice day.

Byron doesn't know whether he's coming or going. He has to use the "foe" contraption, but still replies. The poor chap can't help himself

Tony, thanks for the advice. However, I've seen and read enough verbal diarrhoea for now and I'd
like to keep my screen free from that usual's dross. It's a bit like watching a television programme, or listening to a radio programme, wherein a discussion is taking place and one of the programme's contributors is out of sync with everyone else. I'm happy to hear what the others are saying, and I have a new technological device which screens out what the experts call 'interference.' It's a word often used by counsellors in their ongoing assistance to people who have difficulty in making themselves heard and listened to, while a noisy bee or wasp is invading their conversations.

I think that's enough metaphors and puns for one posting. ;-)

Hi Aifric

Was at Judy Collins concert last night. She was in very good voice and form. She sang "Bird on a wire" and referred to Leonard several times during the show saying among other things that she was very grateful she never fell in love with him. :D She also sang " Since you asked" which was written for LC when he asked her why she didn't sing any of her own stuff. She spoke about the great influence Irish folk music had on her, and sang a beautiful version of "The Kerry Dances" :D . She played for almost 2 hrs. Mostly playing guitar with piano accompaniment, although she played 2 numbers at the piano herself. All in all a great night and well worth seeing of she ever swings this way again. She was supported by Kenny White, who was a treat in himself.!!

Whilst your co-thinkers might admire the way you don't like someone being supportive of a human being, and attack that supportive person, I don't.

You say I'm "out of sync with everyone else". Of course this is all about your intolerance of a view with which you disagree. It also rather arrogantly assumes everyone shares your point of view.

You say you use the "foe" facility for me. This does not support your contention that I have "difficulty" in making myself heard. Rather it suggests that you hear me well :)

You claim to want to ignore me, but you can't help but talk about me.

In other words, you fail on all fronts
