Also I wonder how many of his fans have called their sons Leonard. I would have myself if I had been a little earlier to the enlightened:)

hehe, I don't know that I could give a little boy the name Leonard in this day and age, but I must confess that Leo is on my shortlist

And our favorite bartender's name is Leo - he is even more our favorite since he became a Leonard Cohen convert

Today at work I was talking to an MD who is going to Barcelona with his wife in a few weeks..she works with me..
somehow I brought up Leonard's name as I told him of this forum and how lovely Bea had given me hints and tips before my visit and how I was going to send him some of them and photos of our trip...imagine how surprised I was when he said,
"I love Leonard Cohen", then he proceeded to tell me a story of how in the 70's being at an airport in New York waiting for a late night flight and how in those days there weren't that many flights at night. He ran into Leonard there and they spent an hour talking to pass the time!
great story...

I have had the flu for some time now and was driving back home from the doctor's when I heard a voice on the radio say "Jennifer Warnes". Now I obviously paid greater attention to what was being said, because:
1. NO ONE in Australia talks about Jennifer Warnes on the radio.
2. It was Sharon Robinson speaking about her.
The show was called "Off The Record" and broadcast today. It was an Australian interviewer called Brian....
I had just arrived at home with a car full of items which needed to immediately go into the freezer and here I was unable to stop listening to the show. She was talking a lot about Leonard and her album "Everybody Knows". She also stated that they would be touring the USA in August/September. I am waiting for a podcast to appear on the site to listen to it again as I missed the first part and also to verify that I heard those dates correctly. I'm pretty sure that I heard it that way. It may have been an old interview. No specific cities were mentioned. No doubt all will be revealed

I was talking about with a classmate of mine just a few minutes ago, on facebook, about rock music, metal music etc, no mention about Leonard. And then I went to post something on her wall and there I saw a post, "posted 6 minutes ago", saying "Which Leonard Cohen song are you?".

I left her a comment with lots of hearts and sighs

and then she said she likes a few of his songs, like Dance Me To The End Of Love, Hallelujah, Here It Is and she doesn't know many more..
I sent her Closing Time.
And she said: "he's got a greeeeeeaaaat voice!"
so many soul sisters and I haven't noticed them, wtf?

This seems like a long story but I'll try to condense it. Worked with a manager several years ago who was so cool. Knew music inside-out....attended Berkley in the late 60's....adventurer (Pamploma, hutte hiking in Austria, Buddhist monastery high in the Taiwanese hills). Summited 14,000'ers in the western US each summer. But, when I talked to him of Leonard, his reaction was "Leonard Cohen...he can't sing...never could". In fact he teased me that I was following another Englebert Humperdinck (sp?)!
So..he took an early retirement and I haven't seen him for a couple of years....until yesterday. I walked out of the airport and ran into him and his wife (on the way to Sorrento and Naples). He was even MORE cool now...long hair gathered behind his neck...soul patch...and backpack. Then he said that a few months ago he picked up LC's "Live in London" CD....because of my comments.
He LOVED it! Not only loved it, but he is now picking up everything he can by Leonard!!!! And this is someone who knew about Leonard all these years, but never stopped to listen. I am ecstatic!!!!!
It was a wonderful LC moment....wonderful....

This is
REALLY silly, I know, but last night I had my first dream with Leonard in it!

I dream a LOT...in fact a night without at least 6 dreams is a boring night..but this was a first! Nothing special. He just talked with me, and was so gentle, patient, and intelligent! Okay inner brain...I'm ready for more

After popping in a few votes to the NME best lyricist poll to keep things topped up, and having a good laugh about the sprouting Sligo threads situation, I have enjoyed using Dr H Guy's latest jolly product to animate a few photos myself.
You can upload any photo of Mr Cohen you like (close up portraits best, sunglasses don't work at all well), adjust, choose your theme song and you are away. It is fun, fun, fun or at least I think so, for a half hour.

I popped one on my blog at

Or upload a photo and make your own at

DOUBLE WOW!!!!
It sounds like you have been elevated to the position of medium for the Cohenites by Leonard himself!
Does it get any better than that?
Absolutely.....when Leonard sings to you in your dreams!!!!! A private Hallejuh!!!
I can't take it!!!

A little snippet of news on the new album perhaps..
these postings from twitter Thursay 17th, all Columbia artists so I guess this was at the record company offices...in New York maybe before the award ceremony, who knows..
"Leonard Cohen, John Legend and Raphael Saadiq all played new songs for us today. Amazing!"
A friend texts me: "Leonard Cohen just walked in our office & played us a new song."
