The nostalgia trip inspired by the passsing of Dio, had me on a Billy Joel trip (both featured in my life during the same period), and a re-visit of Cold Spring Harbour and Songs in the Attic (both A+ records). Also gave Glass Houses a play, first time in years. It's mostly known for its rockier numbers, but also includes some lesser-playeds that still sound pretty fresh.

Xavier Rudd - Koonyum Sun
I went to see Xavier Rudd in concert last week. It was incredible. This is by far the the best album I have bought for a long, long time.

cecilia bartoli is on french-belgian tv la deux : the pure pleasure of singing, even if the songs are often not that joyful : sacrificium, the sacrifice of so many boys in the name of music ; beautiful and very cruel at the same time : "usignolo", "nightingale, anxious to escape death" from nicola porpora.

What does one do about an addiction to youtube? How excellent is this John Cale live version of Dying on the Vine! Wonderful arrangement with the strings, and sung with more feeling than the album version I have.

I will happily stand up and raise my hand to admit my youtube addiction. It's great when you have that itch to hear a particular song!
Right now though I'm listening to Peter Frampton - Do you feel like I do?

And thank you Youtube!

I have been listening to Jakob Dylan's new album Women and Country.
As the title suggests it has a real country music quality to it. It was produced by
T-Bone Burnett and back up vocals are done by Neko Case. I think it is quite good.

Thank you merton,
for bringing this wonderful album to my attention. I now have it too thanks to you. I've always loved Jackson Browne's voice and I have to say that I still have on cassette tape his "Running On Empty" album which has always been one of my favourites from the seventies. I love that Javier Mas is on this new one; it just adds a continental but still country flavour to the whole album. I love "Your Bright Baby Blues" as well and another song is growing on me "Late For The Sky" which I am listening to right now. I agree great music.

Hi Kwills. Some favourites there on Damn the Torpedoes. I recently acquired the four disc Live Anthology and highly recommend it. I've only listened a couple of times so far, but the songs decidedly all have an edge that the studio versions don't.
Who'd have thought they'd covered the old Muddy Waters /Stones number, I Just Want Make Love to You:

And here's Wildflowers, just because all the beautiful wildflowers are bursting out right now:-):

Btw, your eyes haven't changed since that pic of you in your avatar! I have a similar quiff in my baby pics. (Clearly we were born to rock n roll.)
