Thank you very much for organizing all this. I will be attending the lunch and all the other arrangements - just for confirmation. Maarten: 2 Euros for the tags will be no problem for anybody. Thanks so much for doing this.

Counting the days to september, 21st.

Jorcx,

Very good idea to have a confirmation round for the lunch on the 21st! I think several people on my name tag list won't go to the lunch, so it kind of got mixed up with a few... I've got an excel-file with all names for the name tags, because I'm going to use this one to merge it into the individual name tags once the list is complete... The list is the same as the one posted here, but all individuals are in seperate rows. I have added a column "LUNCH" to this, where I can either put
"1" (=confirmed)
"0" (=will not attend lunch)
"?" (=not yet confirmed nor cancelled)

Perhaps I can keep track of this, it's no trouble. (I can also send you this excel-file, but I'm updating this according to new participants, new info,... so it's best to keep it all with me, no?) I will email you the list as it is now, just so you can see how it works and I will keep you informed on the progress!

Participants,
If you post your confirmation here, please include your number on the name tag list, makes it easier to track you down :-). Also include info about family, friends,...

Take care,
Maarten

EDIT: Again: also let me know if you are NOT attending lunch!!!

Hi friends,
just to confirm my presence on the lunch on the 21st (as I can see at the moment is my number 110, the list is moving slightly...) and the tribute concert on 20th.
My husband (nr.111 now) is NOT attending the lunch, just the tribute concert.
Great job, a lot of thanks to Barcelona team and Maarten of course.

Thank you for your comprehension. In my case I confirm the numbers 6, 7, 8, and 55 for the lunch. I know at least 4 people who will come to the Jorcx's concert but no for the lunch (Monday is working day).

I think that nobody has answered you because nobody has a good solution. To return at these hours won't be easy., I just can think by car (or rent car). I have looked in Internet for the public transport and have not could find any, and less by night. There is no train and the buses are very limited: http://www.sarfa.es/paginas/sarfa_porta ... _empresa=2. Taxi in +34 972 61 00 00. In the organisation's web page they only explain the way in car. http://festival.caproig.cat/index.php?pid=27. I wish you found someone with car, sorry I will not be present at this concert. Here there is the information that the organisers dedicate to Leonard Cohen: http://festival.caproig.cat/index.php?p ... nard+Cohen

I have found:http://www.coliseodeatarfe.com/index.ph ... star&id=19
As I see, they say that it is in half of one way between a Roman Coliseum and a Bull Ring (probably you could perceive certain atmosphere of cruelty), it is a new building (2005) with mobile roof - I suppose that in its concert configuration it will be indoor, up 5000 and 7000 people. Though your nickname sounds me heavy metal, please remember that the coliseum was a priest's place of martyrdom.

zodkavombie ~ for sure you will enjoy a magnificent trip and concert, see you. Margaret, liverpoolken and Happygirl, you are very well informed and you know Barcelona. Specially Happygirl, Mirablau is a very advisable place, Merbeyé also has the flavour of the early of the past century as the mountain of the Tibidabo, el Temple del Sagrat Cor, el tramvia Blau (Blue tram). I invite you that you tell us more things of Barcelona, please, with our information they will know a Barcelona beyond les Rambles.

I agree ForYourSmile, Barcelona has such a huge wealth of culture I would love everyone to experience as much of the 'real' Barcelona as possible. If anyone has a particular question, please just post it here and we can aim to give you some hints. I personally really like walking around town, checking out markets, quirky local cafes, live music in little bars, artist studios, that type of thing. For more general stuff like museums, major tourist attractions etc. the tourist office should have some good tips, as far as I remember there is a large one in Plaza Catalunya. I remember snapping up the Accordes con Leonard Cohen CD http://www.leonardcohenfiles.com/acordes.html in FNAC (Plaza Catalunya) for €6 in a sale at the time, a steal.

As there is so much on offer in Barcelona my tip is to make a little list of the main things you want to see, don't stress about the rest (just too much to see and do anyway) and just enjoy the atmosphere as you make your way from one place to another. There are zillions of cafes, bakeries, little shops, fruit stores etc. at every corner. Public transport is really easy to get around on, you just get a T1 (10 journey ticket, also works from the airport, great value) and a map from the tourist office. I would definitely try and see one of the Gaudi buildings or the Güell Park, a quick visit to the beach to stick your toes in the water and collect some sand, the Sagrada Familia Cathedral, the old town, Tibidabo Hill (can be done at night see bar tips in my earlier post) and Gracia (village feel even though it's in town). In fact just writing these up makes me get all excited about the trip ;-)

As we're all music fans I'd also recommend visiting http://www.palaumusica.org/, a beautiful concert hall where I really wish Leonard was playing instead of the big stadium on the hill.

Ah and if you can learn a few basic words in Spanish or even Catalan before you go, it'll definitely help communicating with the locals. In the more touristy areas English shouldn't be a problem, but it comes across much friendlier if you can at least say good morning or excuse me in the local tongue to start your English sentences off with ;-)

Happy Leonard trip planning!
