Three before I go missing for a bit; First, a Donovan song as sung by 2 sisters:
Catch The Wind, Joan Baez and Mimi Farina, 1968
...one by someone whose lastest CD is about Natural Forces:
If I Had A Boat, Lyle Lovett, 1987
and one of my favorites for which a previous link has been made inactive by youtube:
La Mer, Charles Trenet, 1946

Some lovely choices of songs there Bequia especially of Joan Baez and her sister Mimi Farina.
Sorry for the sharp contrast in my choice of music, but I did like this group and I've chosen a song which I think is less known than their bigger hits'
such as "Since You've Been Gone" and "All Night Long".This is "Magic" by Rainbow.

Oops,I'm back in 1972 again! I remember listening to this and being a bit scared of it because being so young I took the words literally!

Kwills I too used to enjoy Rainbow a great deal. And other similar bands (enough said).
I confess I haven't heard half the tracks in this thread. I used to be envious that I wasn't 'there' in the sixties and early seventies. For my money, the two most powerful musical performances ever are Joe Cocker singing A Little Help From My Friends at Woodstock, and Led Zep's Since I been Lovin You from The Song Remains the Same film '73.
Another wonderful Beatles cover from Joe:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kqQiaf3LbDY (the video's a bit daft)
Eric was the first performer I saw live who really blew my socks off (I think
Just One Night was my first LP of his). Eric and everyone in his orbit rock. With Jeff Beck here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_o3CIa3nrZE I got this guitar and I learned how to make it talk, gently weep, and whatever else.
Been listening to Roger Waters'
In the Flesh Live with Katie Kissoon and Doyle Bramhall (who've also both worked with Eric quite a bit). Pretty excellent.
Anyway, what I actually came here to say: Tinders - on the strength of that DeVille number you posted, I sent for the album Le Chat Bleu. Merci bien:-)

Hi Diane you were right about the video! Joe Cocker has a great voice though. He looks as if he is about to explode in his performances.
This is Love Or Alone from the 1967 album Love Forever Changes by Love.

John, I preferred Nazareth's version of This Flight Tonight. Also immensely preferred their version of Love Hurts to The Everleys. (Also preferred Robert Plant's version of If I Were A Carpenter, and Fleetwood Mac's version of How Can We Hang on to a Dream.) It's always good to be reminded of the origins of things though.
Kwills, re Joe Cocker - the best things in life are either explosive or immensely subtle:-) That's the first time I have heard that Natalie Merchant Motherland. Thanks! The Christy Moore cover is a favourite song of mine (reminds me of Ireland, my mother's land). Something Irish (with Christy's guitarist):

Heard this on the radio this morning Bill Oddie singing 'I Can't Get Through' a self penned song released in 1966 I think.I hadn't thought of him as a singer songwriter before, apparantly he was quite popular up north.

Bill Oddie also made a great record for John Peel's Dandelion label...a version of "On Ilkla Moor Baht'at" sung to the tune of "With a Little Help From My Friends" and backed by the Joe Cocker Band! Since I can't find that on youtube, here's another song by a Dandelion artist, from one of the great overlooked albums of all-time (and also a single):
