falafel? what on earth are you talking about. this is a well known Israeli food and so you introduce the Israel dimension into a provincial War. Do you think your comments are going to go down well with Our Boys out there fighting their very best?

Well... they might falafel about it, or --on the other hand-- they might simply go tippy-toeing Pita-Pita-pat toward the nearest oasis, find themselves a nice, warm hookah to get Kouzi with (if she isn't too Bulgar about making a Ful of them), and Shaour themselves with pleasure... if it isn't Tabblouleh in that part of the world.

I dont understand a word of what you said. It isn't English. I have looked up all your words and none of them are in the dictionary. What are you on about?
This is War and not a time to mess about.
Yum!

"There is a war
between the puns who think there is a war
and the puns who think there isn't...."
Look into any good Arab-cuisine cookbook, my friend.
And for a soundtrack, I recommend the Music Of Rubber Bands...

p.s. I have no doubt that muffins --or, for that matter, Falafel or Ful or any of the other delicacies I invoked-- would "go down" much better for soldiers (or anyone else) than my punsterism. At least I hope so... but we all do what we can.

first of all I recognise that poem of yours. you have plagiarised it from Leonard Cohen and owe him an apology.
secondly, for all your fighting talk you are still too timid to vote in the poll.
Plagiarism?

Not "plagiarized" -- "translated" (into Tricksterese).
Prayer, after all, is translation, right?
As for my voting in the poll... allow me to allude to that eminent Canadian philosopher and former Boston Red Sox pitcher Bill "Spaceman" Lee:
"No guns OR butter! They can BOTH kill you!"
David
p.s. "Fighting talk"? M'Lady, you do me great honor -- elsewhere around here, I have been scathed mercilessly as a veritable spineless peacenik 'o' jelly!

that depends on language and audience, surely?
As for my voting in the poll... allow me to allude to that eminent Canadian philosopher and former Boston Red Sox pitcher Bill "Spaceman" Lee:
"No guns OR butter! They can BOTH kill you!"
but muffins with butter are awful.

is that American jelly as in preserve?
Jelly

See the writings of F. for some provocative "jelly"-related thoughts --
...tho' in this case, speaking of the "peacenik" accusations, I was referring to the vernacular sense of "spineless jellyfish," which is one thing the putative "right wing" loves to call us when we oppose war --
"Marmitefish," perhaps!?!?

David, just had to say how much I enjoyed reading your wordplay with P.H. with all of the arab cuisine references, puns, etc. Wonderful stuff! Keep on writing.

...Margaret, Margaret!
...do you realize the torrents of passion and hope-against-hope optimism a woman might unleash in me if she were to tell me --O, there IS a God!-- that she actually LIKES my puns!?
Tread carefully and lightly across this landscape, M'Love....

Dear David ~
Even though my goal is not to invoke your passion, I must nonetheless make you aware that I laughed aloud at your punsterisms.....the delicacies, as well as the music.

The muffins have my vote, but only if I get a free Leonard Cohen with each muffin.

Really Jo, a free LC
