Yes, ok, John K. No, I didn't look at my PMs yet, but I will. :) Go ahead and delete what I sent, and I will re-send my entry at some point.

@Lizzy: No worries, Lizzy, you didn't embarrass me - I embarrassed myself for not thinking of the obvious! - and yes, it has worked to my advantage in that I can put back the missing words, LOL! :)

Best,

John K.
Not including the Title at the top of the story's page? That's 6 whole words, and they can make an enormous difference to a 1000 word story! So Albert says anyway......

Well. Looks like a happy ending 8)

For the record I am keeping THIS thread, (the post that started it all) as the update spot.

Last night I modified it (if you'll notice) to included asking folks to Not announce when they have sent John K. a story.

That is my best plan, flawed as it may be.

Laurie

Byron~

Later: This has been changed. The 1000 words does NOT include the title

I will note this at the top of the thread.

Thanks much,
Laurie

John K... no other pm from you about fixing it myself, but it doesn't matter anyway, because we both know what's happening with it now!

I'll re-send in due course. :)

I can certainly be out voted by the voice of One.

Sooo, one serious post here requesting the title not be included and the rule will be changed.

I am making this stuff up as I go, you know.

Please do not forget, I am doing all this for the Mini-Coop that was promised....

Hey there!

I have no idea why my PM didn't PM, but it doesn't matter since I now have your story.

I hope those who HAVE included the title in the 1000 (ME!) won't be penalised? There IS a little leeway either side of the 1000, isn't there? :worried:

Poor Laurie! I'm glad I'm not doing your job - you deserve a real, live mini-coupe!

No. The 1000 word limit is strict.

The only leeway, is the title, which it seems in hindsight may need to be excluded from the count.

I will OFFICIALLY reverse that decsion and make the title exempt from the word count.

I'll PM John K. to make sure this is cleared up since he is the person who is checking the word count. This is to clear up any overage problems before the story gets to me. Please make John K's life a little easier by checking your word count (minus the title) before sending.

thanks much,
Laurie

Oh, bugger. I'm disqualified then. Oh, well.

Fljotsdale~

I cannot tell if you are being serious or not about being disqualified.

Are you saying that despite the stated 1000 word count you went over that?

If this is the case, a bit of editing will fix that as opposed to being out of the contest.

I really hope you are either kidding or if not, will fix the problem and resubmit.

The word count limit is the word count limit. Please do not drop out.

I go to work now.

regards,
Laurie

Oh no again..........I've totally changed the juxtoposition of me characters and their internal, infernal turmoil, in order to get me fizzin' words down to a grand total 999. Albert is in high dudgeon and low sulks, having spent well over 19 seconds altering the whole of the story line. I'll get me to a nunnery and drown me sorrows. I'm sure there's one round here somewhere......

Bye the way Flo, if you send me your story I'll edit it for you. I promise not to read it. Honest!

No, no, UNDER. It's 1000 WITH title, 994 without title.

You appeared to be saying it MUST be exactly 1,000 WITHOUT title.

So - to clarify: 1,000 is the MAXIMUM number of story words without title?

If that is the case, I'm ok - I think!

I don't want to add any more if I can help it. I hate adding words as pure padding.

But> if there is a maximum - it might be helpful to know what is the minimum?

Sorry to be a pain in the ass.
