even to the extent that the phrase "Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned" came to mind.
Lizzytysh, it is "funny" : you are getting this expression out of the moth balls every time a woman is loosing her head about Leonard Cohen in connection with sex, like if it is the alpha and omega of the whole affair.

You sound like a "real mother-in-law"

However if your account is reliable, and usually you are reliable, the lack of decency is real, not in the sex but in the attitude lacking of respect. No wonder that he did not want to meet any of them for DH, some journalists would do anything to came out with a good scoope or sensation paper. It must be exhausting this side of the business. He is having the best part, now, still creating but not to have to show up on a stage or being chewed up by journalist At his age, it is not a luxury, it is the benefit of his long career. I see it like this.

Hi Tchocolatl ~
Well

, the mother-in-law must tell you that the expression isn't being taken out of the mothballs

[that's a good, mothballed one, in itself

] for still another use with regard to that sexual 'issue' thingy [C2-style]. It's, in fact, been resurrected for a repeat use in regard to the very same interview. It was really quite tedious, how she went about it. It's not that it's lacking in wholesome parts, but the prurient-oriented ones are egregious. I have nothing, absolutely nothing, against Leonard's alluding to/discussing the sexual aspects of his work. However, the way Stina goes about it, when she
does address it, is lacking in class. Have you seen this interview?
I hope that the one which arrived is, indeed, this very same interview, Linda. Give us your take on the sections, which you'll know without my telling you, that I'm referring to.

I see it that way also, Tchoco. Artists/writers have their nose to the grindstone their entire lives, trying to eke out a living, putting up with 'promo' interviews and photo ops. Must be very embarrassing for some of the more cerebral writers. The R & R set often believe their own press releases and don't know it's over until it is truly over. Leonard has a self-assurance about him that seems quite genuine. I would hate to have to interview him. On one hand it would be a great opportunity, on the the other, I don't think I could utter a word as I would feel more ill at ease than the subject. I don't think Leonard 'let's people in' as easily as some other artists/songwriters.
Anyway, Leonard is doing what he wants, when he wants and doesn't have to apologize for one dam thing. I think he said something long ago ' I don't want to have to work, but I want to be paid well for my work'. Strangely enough, I think he pulled it off.

As for the interview, I haven't had time to look at the DVDs, etc. that I've rec'd but this one says LC Interview in Paris 2001 with Stina Lundberg. It's a video. There are other discs but as I've been in Vancouver for a week I haven't as yet settled into the pleasure of pleasure. When I get things sorted out, I'll make a little comment here and a little comment there. Mostly though, I'll just watch/listen and be very happy that I've met some fine people.

That's the one, Linda. Enjoy

~ Leonard is lovely in it.
Yes, I forgot to agree that you're right, Tchocolatl, about Leonard's well-earned, self-directed status with regard to the press.
What are you needing the good dress for, Linda

?
Love,
Elizabeth

"I have a response for that which should not be joked about in mixed company and as there is a gentleman present, I'm afraid you'll just have to use your imagination."
Sorry Linda, I'm part of the MTV generation and, as such, have no imagination. Corrupt me. Getting back to the really important matter (Adverb) I'd generally just go for the safe "Incorrectly" bet.
I do agree with what you've been saying and I think that because Leonard's lyrics are so telling and personal he really doesn't need to explain his personal life to anybody, in particular people looking for some quick titillation.
All I've seen of the Mt. Baldy interview is what was shown in the paris one. She was obviously trying to seem respectful of his religious beliefs at the time but, again just from what I saw, she was barely able to hold it in.
was anyone else pissed off by her question about how he was in bed? I think she said something about how every woman she talked to asked a similar question. How many of the female posters at this site have thought about that question?

Hi Ghoti,
You don't know me, but you will know me a bit better if you hang around. I have a quirky sense of humour, which is often taken the wrong way. Some get used to it, others don't.
With reference to the 'mixed company' remark - I was joking - lame but light-hearted. I'm no prude. Believe me. I don't think a lot of Cohenites are (prudish, that is) His work work is so sexual/sensual it would be difficult to listen to over and over if one weren't comfortable in sexual situations. The remark was just that - a lame but light-hearted jest with me ol' bud Lizzy.
Thanks for pointing that out, though. It probably won't help me, as I'm pretty much stuck with the personality I have and too old to change. At least I know you read my post. Until next time...
Linda.

Hey Lizzy ~
You snuck one in on me as I was typing my post out. Speedy you. And you are so right. How many female posters at this site have thought about that question? Probably all of them. Some every single night of their lives. Not me though. NO. No. no n. En oh.

Try to estimate how much of Cohen' work is attempted seduction along with courtship promises and flattery of women (85%?) and then it will not be surprising that you are having these fantasies or yearnings. You have responded as he would have you, as did Stina and even Queen Victoria. And what's the other 15%? A flight to spirituality when the romantic/ sexual disappoints.

Have you seen this interview?
NoOOooo Lizzytysh, noOo. Why? Indeed I have few CDs, books (oh! no, - I do even not have books anymore, I posted books to two fans somewhere on the surface of our little blue planet ) a tiny page on the web, and that's it. I am not the type to be part of the cult of idols, to collect relics, participate to gathering celebration(s) of the idol, these sorts of things.
Not that I thing this is wrong in some way or another, now - it came to fascinating me this phenonenon of the fan club - this is just that I am not an average fan, maybe.
Actually, I still wondering how in the world could I have end as a fan - as I do not have any answers and the fact is as real as the sky above me, I stop now to ask myself why the sky is blue. It is a fact. A fact that I can not explain. But a fact. Not that I think that this idea of a fan club thing is wrong - it is just that I like Leonard Cohen - the artist - without having the need to have all the material avalable. Maybe one day. Who knows?
For the interview I said that I was trusting you to give a valuable account. Thanks.
Ah! I am not in the mood for joking right now, otherwise I would have create a survey, let say :
1. Did you ever have an erotic fantasm in which LC was playing a part?
2. Is Leonard Cohen your favouritre erotic fantasm?
3. Could you have an orgasm without having to think about Leonard Cohen?
4. and so on
5. and so on
But I have not time for joking right now, I have to go finish that damn thing. Bye.
