Leonard Cohen Elected to American Academy of Arts & Sciences

I know what you're saying regarding the bandwagon; however, I feel the only way that aspect might have been entering in is by some people saying "Let's check into this man deeper... there sure are a lot of distinguished, qualified, and lettered people who highly respect and are even enthralled by his work. David, can you do some research here for us please?" Some, maybe many, on the committee are already aware of Leonard and his body of work. Even so, David does his job and researches Leonard and returns to the committee with an amazing report, which warrants the committee itself doing its own additional research. The committee follows up on their own and over the course of subsequent meetings, it is determined that "This man definitely warrants inclusion on our honour. I'd like to see it done with our next induction. Shall we take a vote."
