I don 't want to discuss political and economic situation of Eastern and Central Europe, though now it has zeměbez Government .. just me just human sorry that I and other fans of Leonard never see you around

.. for him to travel to Germany or even more expensive than it is of course to visit the concert in our country ... again fell like a iron curtain dividing Europe and the world. . Not ideologically, but economically .. and again, we probably found themselves among the "poorer"

I simply don't buy into this economic thing as a reason.
Do what Van Morrison has done. Put 'your own show' on and take 70% of the profits.
If he can play to 2000 in Manchester (x4) he can certainly play to 10000 in Eastern Europe.
The profit won't be so large but so what......
(you can't take it with you Len)

Zagreb, Croatia, this morning - 63.000 tickets for U2 at the football stadium sold in couple of hours (500 kunas - 80 Euros).
Now they're negotiating an extra show (U2 left free day after the original date).
So nevertheless the crisis, people in these countries are happy when somebody really important in music comes here (because it's very rare).
Hydriot, not our government's loans - most of foreign investments went to third sector. All banks, shops & chains (Lidl, Billa, Interspar etc.), cinemas, TV stations, newspapers and publishing industry, and complete internet and telecom industry, it's all now owned by foreign (multi)corporations. You have Deustche Telekom as owner of telecommunications, Styria as owner of newspapers etc. That's how it is from Serbia and Croatia and Bosnia up north to Poland.

Tom,
talking to my soul! People here know how to appreciate when they come for the quality! Last year, the sports hall in Prague sold out in a few days

I believe that this would be, for example in neighboring Slovakia or the Balkans - Croatia, Slovenia and the like find enough people who would be willing to really good concert zaplatit.A also travel to the Balkans in the summer thousands of people on holiday, and certainly they would be willing to diversify, you leave ..

Well my fellow Eastern Europeans, we know how it goes: the poor stay poor, the rich get rich...
*keeping my fingers crossed for a nearby concert*

As Bob says,
'money don't talk it swears'
Under communism the music of artists like Dylan, Cohen etc kept the torch burning, and it would be great to see that faith rewarded.
However if Len and his advisors feel it is more fitting (i.e. read 'more profitable') to play at 350 euro dinners or at Mercedes World, or another trek round arenas there's little we can do.

This will be good news for many who have posted messages in this thread:
Looks like things are moving to a direction many members in the East have been hoping...
Some gaps in the tour itinerary are being filled with a couple of cities that balance the European routing in a very nice way.
We will know more soon!

An artist like Leonard is not going to lose money by e.g. playing a gig in Sofia or Istanbul. He will make less money than night after night in a richer country, but will enrich the lives of some poorer people.
Perhaps naive, but why can't the gigs in the richer nations 'subsidise' other gigs ?
Balls to exchange rates and economists, we've all seen where that has taken the world.
Let the artists fight back......
I agree with the idea of this.....but,the problem here is when an artist plays a less well off country they either charge so much that very few from the country in question can afford it and most tickets are bought by people from neighbouring better off countries,or else they charge a more reasonable price and people from better off countries go there because their getting such a bargin, either way the better off will take advantage
The Stones played China a few years ago after 30 years of trying to convince the authorites to allow them to,they charged the equivalent of months wages for your average Chinese worker!! the audience was apparently filled with Brittish ex-pats and tourists and businessmen and about 4 Chinamen

.......not that Leonard would charge that much, but thats just the way a lot of these gigs work,i know people who travelled from here(Ireland)and the U.K to Croatia to a festival there last year because it was so cheap,it was cheaper to go all the way there than to go to Dublin for a festival......i know this is depressing for some to read but this is how it works nowadays

To Tom Sakic:
You think?

.. I do not believe that our writing to have an impact, but if so, then I just like and enjoy me! People in these countries are not so rich money but souls are usually strong and rich .. it must be strong people, toppling communist regimes usually without a shot

... and Leonardo means

Paul,
Are you serious?

Thank you .. but I can not offer the same in the case of Prague ... my money would be sufficient for you to purchase tickets for a good dinner and a couple glasses

... But if you went on a trip to our small but beautiful country in the middle of Europe, so I invite you for a few days in the mountain area Jeseniky
