there are many people here in Israel who admire and cherish Leonard's music and words , much of them can't really afford to fly overseas for a concert

so please include israel in the tour

anyway if this by any( however small) chance will get to Leonard himself i just wanna say thank you for what you've given to me and even if
you don't get the chance to visit Israel, you music is already here and it will stay for many years to come

It doesn't look promising at all, it seems.

But let us not lose hope friends.

I wouldn't like to bring bad news but it really begins to look like there is no concert in Israel. There will be some cities that are nearer you than those
already announced, so wait for the complete tour itinerary before you make decisions where you want to go.

I still cannot believe that Leonard is not going to perform in Israel, and that is after performing here in: 1972, 1973, 1980, 1985. He is indeed Our Man in the hearts of many thousands of old and new generations. I mean, I hope he knows what he means to us.

Please come to ISRAEL !

Leonard, we love you here.
We have special radio nights every two nights dedicated to your songs since the rumor was heard that there might be a chance that you came here this time.
Please, please! You have the force of answering the wish of thousands of thousands men and women who adore your songs and dream of being at your concert.

Please, if there is any chance.
Deborah, Israel

I can only agree with Inna- seems quite unbelievable it is not going to happen after all ..I wonder what went wrong this time, hopefully we will get to know the reason sometime soon.

At this point I simply refuse to accept the fact of not seeing him here. There are rumors in the Israeli press that not all is lost right now. It seems to me that the fact that so many Israelis have been waiting for a whole year at least and are still waiting despite the gloomy forecast, suggests only how much we care and how much we need him here.

This thread is located in the Summer Tour section, and is supposed to deal with Leonard Cohen’s concert in Israel – whether it will happen or not. The contents of some messages were pretty political. These never-ending disputes irritate the majority of members. That’s why I cleaned this thread and deleted about half of the messages. A copy of the original thread is, however, in the Politics section at the bottom of the Forum.

This Forum is an international meeting place for Leonard Cohen’s fans, and the idea is to discuss his work and related topics. The purpose is not to let political agitators take over, no matter if they are on the left or right. During the US elections we opened a new section (Politics) for those (few) who had nothing else to do than to run over their political views. This way the majority of members may just ignore the whole Politics section, if they prefer to do so.

At some point we need to discuss whether or not we need that section at all. The Internet offers so many other Forums in particular for those who want to discuss politics.

I am sure that some of you will now answer me that we cannot separate politics from other aspects of life. I agree that there is some truth in this argument, and I may myself devote myself occasionally to political issues, but I would never do it on a Leonard Cohen Forum.

Good for you, Jarkko. Considered and absolutely spot on, as usual!

Jarkko,

If you delete the Politics Section (which we can ignore if we choose, as you say), you will spend quite a bit of time monitoring and deleting political comments from other sections. With all that you and your moderators do for us here, do you need to take your precious time to do this kind of thing? I say, leave it be - to ignore or post as the individual desires. Isn't it easier for you since it was moved to its own section?

Kindest regards,
Mary

I don't think Israeli fans should feel slighted or abandoned if Leonard does not come to their homeland. It has crossed my mind that the reason may just be practical: Israel is the only potential venue that cannot be reached overland or by short ferry hop. While the band members fly, all that gear has to come by road in big trucks. The cost of shipping everything to Israel and back may just be prohibitive. I know in his earlier tour he set a limit of 400km between venues, and that was 400km overland.

Stuff 'n' Nonsense. One does not measure ties to Israel in terms of ferry hops and kilometre limits.
