Not having you

Post by Geoffrey »

Hello everyone!! Here is a little poem. It only has eleven words, but the smaller the glass the stronger the drink, as my grandmother used to say. I am going to return to the 'Everything Else' thread later, but wanted to show you this first. It was written to a man. I just hope that Critic2 is away somewhere on holiday abroad.

Hi Jeremy, yes I am still abroad- in the Sahara Desert this time! There are no restaurants around. It's very strange as I haven't had a drink for 3 days, no food for a week and yet I keep finding Internet Cafes everywhere. Weirder still, they don't sell any beverages just second-hand tuxedos. I May not get out of here until Dune. Youlie so often and I think you are nowhere near as August as you pose. Damn, I am getting delirious, absolutely delicious. I am 6 ft tall and have a full head of hair. Geoffrey isn't Jeremy. He is a nice man. Hello mummy. Damn, I have sand in my grandfather clock, why am I carrying it out here anyway? Ding Dong, ding dong, 3 o'clock, time for tea, you Mad Hatter. Has anyone seen Ann? Ann, where are you??? hello I must be going. Jeremy, go and read the new poet in everything else forum, she can teach you how to rhyme. Either you are forum or against them. Don't sit on the fence, certainly not in that dress. Come on you Bees! Anyone got a sand wich?

Not loving you
is like feeling Randy
all over again.

Well, that wasn't too bad. I was a little astonished when I saw that you had answered my post; I feel that you didn't find too much wrong. Yes, I've seen the other poems, or some of them anyway. This poem wasn't meant to rhyme, by the way. 'Not Having You' was written quite some time ago, and I suppose it could be classified as minimalistic. Did you really like it?

Voo do you really want to know exactly why that was so funny to you?

It was so funny to you precisely because you have no idea what it was about!

Because those of us who happen to know exactly that was all about
do not find it funny, at all, but rather terribly sad and tragic
and unfunny.

Unfortunate, or fortunately, or neither, or both,
there aren't any of "those of us".

And so it remains.
Funny. And in the dark.
Where the Bible says all such hanky-panky belongs.

However I can (and will) bring to light for you, Voo, 2,
or possibly one thing, right away.

"Critic2" was spawned rather by "mickey_one",
not "Critic1".

The reason for this will be clear to you should you ever meet the person,
because you'd immediately realize the following 2 things about him right away,
both happening to be quite evident in the very names 'mickey_one'
and 'Critic2' themselves, namely:
1) up front, -he has a short attention span for names, even his own, and
2) up behind, - an obsession with small numbers.
3) (-what are you doing here? i said "2 things" you dumb bunny)

As for "Geoffrey", there are those who say it means "World" (Geo)
- and "Frey"
"- n. Scand. Myth. the god of peace, prosperity,
and marriage: one of the Vanir, originally brought
to Asgard as a hostage."

But I don't think so.

ps:
lovely poem, Geoffrey!
(- it somehow makething the word 'sprightly'
springeth, eternally, in the mind !! .. !! .. !! ,,
('!!' = ideogram for 'spring' or 'hop' ) )

Not having you, Randy,
Makes me feel like feeling-up Spring
All over.

So somebody fill me in. Who are the
a. Villians
b. Heroes
c. Critics
d. Sweethearts
e. Muckrakers
f. fools
g. good guys
h. comics and
i. smarta$$es.
- those would be "Geoffrey" and "mickey_one"
(especially d.)

(You may have noticed in life
that balls often come in pairs like this.)

Once upon a time long long ago there was an effort
to kick them off the news-group by means of apathy.
This was unsuccessful.

But then there was a successful one, by
the simple expedient of every one else leaving it.

And now they've apparently "moved-on" to here I guess.

Like a moveable-feast. or festering, if you will.

Voo posted;
I'm just an innocent bystander and don't want to get involved in the Forum Wars of 06.
Then she goes on to post;
But Critic2's post was funny. I don't care who he is or was or will be or wants to be.
If you do'nt want to be involved keep your silly mouth shut and stick to posting your foolish poems.

That is unkind. I have enjoyed the poems of Voo's that I have read.

Who asked you to stick your nose in. The truth is often unkind, that does not make it untrue. They are my opinions. Youhave a right to your opinions, me to mine. Some will think that this womans poems are good, others will think rubbish. I think rubbish.

Voo wrote:Critic2: I have no idea what any of that was about but that was the funniest thing I've read in a long time! You sound like my kind of nut!!! Tell me more about yourself. Are you from this planet? Are you a snow/tiddlywink hybrid and who are your muses? Do you love the songs of monkeys and as we speak, are you wearing goggles and a tuxedo? Why do you call yourself Critic2? Did Critic1 meet a mysterious demise?? Do you make up these comments yourself or do you have a ghost writer? I love that line about not sitting on the fence in that dress.....!!!! Funny stuff. I like funny. Make a sand man for me in the Sahara.

Geoffrey: I liked the verse but did not understand it.
My contribution:
Not having you
Is like the death of Spring
And winter living forever.

I surmise that you did not write the verse yourself and that the writer was expressing the joy of the end of a relationship???? That's my take on it. What's yours? And yes, sometimes less is more in poetry and all else except for money.........
I am also a great fan of critic2. I will comment further when I have some time and C2's permission.

no idea. I presume it's insecurity that drives your hostility, but who knows. Anyway, all the best but if you are able to be less aggressive to newbies it would be much appreciated.

Voo is not exactly the Hallmark Lady, is she. She didn't deserve your fierceness. And Diane didn't deserve your rudeness.
