All Cohen fans are intelligent

Post by Whisper it quietly »

I have to say that some of the time, threads lose me.

Having listened deeply to " The Man " and the way He talks, leads me to believe that most of Cohen fans, like Him are of far superior intelligence.

Just wish I could keep up!!!

Intelligence does not necessarily mean that a person is sensible or sensitive or that their opinions are logical.

Cohen fans are no more or less intelligent than fans of Britney Spears.

Maybe it's me then, but some of the conversations are quite intellectual.

Whisper most of them are too intellectual for me too. I just steer clear of them. It is like going to a party and finding the kitchen full of people discussing quantum physics!

I am just biding my time until a topic comes up in which I am an expert then I will slay 'em.

It may just be that the actual discussions are illogical, pretentious and a form of pseudo intellectual snobbery. You may well be correct in that they are incomprehensible!

Whisper, my score to 2 recent IQ tests I passed, one in French and one in English(!!), was over the average, which means a big n0thing because I do not believe those tests are measuring the intelligence at all but only how one is familiar with the culture of the person(s) who created the test. I do not think the pure concept of "intelligence" can be measured.

Why? there is many intelligences, for all tastes. Besides, education, culture and intelligence are not one and a same thing. My favourite form of intelligence is the emotional form (if you are interesting to know this).

This said, I would say that you may not keep up just because some subjects are not interesting you enough (snoring sounds in the background, please, for the atmosphère, thank you-thank-you, lower, please, I do not hear me writing, now. Thank you. Perfect now). Also, some people are knowing each other for a long time, and/or are sharing similar interests, which I too, sometimes (I mean some threads) do not understand and or feel that I have nothing to write about this, even if I find the subject interesting. Who cares? The purpose to come here is to have fun, and/or relax. Who cares if for different fans it is in different manners? Relax and have fun here, I wish you :D

Tchocolatl - I see it now I am obviously superior to you I have a ten yard swimming certificate and a map reader brownie badge. My intelligence is wasted on this forum. 8)

Pete - Corrie how I misread you. The intelligent person goes for Eastenders.

Tony - I think you are spot on!

 Paula, I do not believe in superiors and inferiors, otherwise, it would be obvious to me too. 8)

Pete wrote "I never miss Coronation Street".
He followed it by "discuss" (sic), and then stuck one of those imbecilic stickers on his post, as if to indicate it was all a joke.
Well, I'll tell you this boy: that programme has died a death since the demise of the Ogdens (Stan and Hilda). With Eddie Yeats as a lodger and the muriel on the livingroom wall, those were sublime times.
Mind you, Annie Walker had her moments too; "I can say without fear of contraception that the Rovers is the best run bar in Weatherfield".
Leonard Cohen? He's just a passing pop star (and taking a very long time about it).
Yours, yearning for Ena Sharples,
Andrew.

I heard Leonard attracted sensitive, romantic, intellectual people.
