Since you asked, Critic2, here is an explanation of "conversion" in the poetic game of rugby union. You may also be interested in checking out the rules on "Rucking and Mauling".

Dear Pete,
Do I have your permission to reproduce that beautiful haiku you wrote on Monday, 14th?
I feel you have another haiku in you, maybe something on the theme of England losing (again :D ) and Ireland winning(again :D ).
Andrew.
P.S. I was in the middle of writing a "lament" for Scotland, but gave up at half-time!

I am old enough to remember when England had a rugby team.

Well, Andrew, Rob didn't. And how sad his fine words ring. I can almost hear the deeply rooted pain.

Thanks for sharing, Rob. May I suggest a change in the second line?

Instead of "Wales 46-Scotland 22" you could use "Wales four six -Scotland two two" to make the haiku structure more easily visible for those not acquainted with the form.

You could, of course, give this haiku a more cheerful ring by replacing it with:
Welsh zero - Scots twenty-two
:twisted:

Thanks again for sharing.

Cheers

Tom,
Thank you very much for your advice. I am working on a submission to be made tomorrow. I have not quite got the second line's detail yet, but lines one and three I see as;

"The nineteenth of March

a grand slam for Wales"

I will insert line two after the game.
