What if there were a Death of A Ladies Man...Naked?
What if there were a Death of A Ladies Man...Naked?
As everyone probably knows, due to dissatisfaction with Phil Spector's production of Let It Be, Paul McCartney remixed the album and released it in 2003 as Let It Be ... Naked. I've wondered what we'd get if Leonard ever did this with Death of a Ladies Man. As with all of Leonard's stuff, there's some wonderful lyrics on it. I personally love Iodine! I think it would be great if Leonard were able to take this back and turn it into an album he was proud of. Would others be interested in this?

That's an interesting idea worth reviving.

Well shoot, I even tried searching for such a topic first!

How many times I've prayed for this ....... !!
"Death" unplugged! (And Phil Spector is safely out of the picture now, so .....).

Don't feel bad, you've brought back to the top an interesting subject. (also: the standard search sucks, but go to advanced search and search for "naked" in subject only -- you'll find the old thread in two secondsilion wrote:Well shoot, I even tried searching for such a topic first!

Re: What if there were a Death of A Ladies Man...Naked?
I have never commented when this topic has been discussed in the past so, for what it's worth, here is my two penn'orth now. Apologies if it repeats anything which has been said before.
- Like many artists, Leonard has never been afraid to revisit older material, to give old songs new treatments etc etc. I am not aware that he has ever done this with any of the material from Death of a Ladies Man which must tell us something.
- Leonard's creative juices are still flowing in abundance, as evidenced by the songs on Old Ideas, not to mention the new songs which didn't make the final cut for the album and the suggestion that there might be another new album in the works in the not too distant future. I for one would rather have him work on new material than spend time re-recording or remixing an old album.

PS Just wondering why the topic heading has changed colour??

I am of the group that advocates a re-doing of 'DOAL', but your argument above makes so much sense.
I remember the thrill of having him perform, in concert, an old song that had not been performed before on this last tour. That thrill was almost as good as him putting out new material.
I am now in your corner

I actually quite like Death of a Ladie's Man.
It is under rated quite a lot
