I am going to Montreal next week.
I am touring working for a band and they are playing at the Corona theatre there, because of work I will not have more than 4 hours to look around the city and being a massive Leonard Cohen fan I would definitely like to visit or see something related to him.
Any suggestions please?

I always thought next time I got to Montreal I would like to visit this church. Suzanne is my favourite Cohen song. This church inspired many of the lyrics. Have a nice time in Montreal! My favourite city.

The song was written about the harbor in Montreal -- that's where Suzanne's "place by the river" is. Overlooking the harbor there's a "Sailors' Church," Notre-Dame-de-Bon-Secours, and the church makes clear that Jesus is also considered a sailor because he walked upon the water. I have this from a friend who used to live near the Sailors' Church. Here's the Wikipedia article on the church:

You might want to check out Poetry and Poppyseed, which was published in the past few days and is subtitled "Tim Elliott explores the Montreal milieu made famous by the melancholic artist Leonard Cohen — and comes away smiling." It has names and addresses of LC's haunts, "Favoured bagel shops," and Cohen landmarks like "our lady of the harbour" atop Chapelle de Notre-Dame-de-Bon-Secours. You can find it online at http://www.smh.com.au/travel/poetry-and ... 1m7hy.html
