I really don't totally understand why everyone is getting up in arms about September's postings. The cartoon avatars were mildly offensive but that was the point of them shock tactics to create a response. How could these cartoon avatars upset you all so much.

I applaud September for speaking his mind but I think he could speak his mind without being vicious or spiteful.

After seeing the "shock" "horror" responses from some of you I wonder how you function in the real world.

You contradict yourself. First you say Sept.Cohen is "mildly offensive" and don't know why anyone should be upset.

Bnd then you say Sept.Cohen should speak his mind only without being "viscious or spiteful".

So you do acknowledge Sept.Cohen was being viscious and spiteful.

And since Sept.Cohen is being "viscious and spiteful" then we have every reason to be upset.

And in my "real world" acquaintences do not shove pornographic cartoons in my face. Therefore I have no trouble functioning.

This is not how you shoot and score. You post and talk the way you do because that is what is in your heart. We have a saying where I live. "What's in the well comes up in the bucket"

You spew out filth because you like filth. You enjoy it. It is a lie that you posted what you did because you wanted to get a response... or wanted us to start thinking...or to win some points for yourself. NO, you posted your pornography because you have a pornographic soul and heart.

Coco I am not contradicting myself I didn't say I can't understand why you were upset about them I said I couldn't understand why you were SO upset with them. The avatars were "mildly" offensive they were not hard core porn. I see a lot worse in my day to day life. I do think September could have toned down his comments but I am not he and he is entitled to make his point the way he wants to. At least his point is now crystal clear there was no ambiguity in his post.

If we all have to tread on eggshells for fear of offending someone then why have a forum. The whole point of a forum is for people to air their views. I find it more offensive for people to try and gag someone because they are being a little too vocal/emotive in an opposing opinion.

I know some of you were offended by September's avatars I wasn't - different strokes for different folks.

I don't know how many times I have told myself to leave this little part of Leonard Cohen's world and just enjoy his music but here I am back.
Only because I want to comment to Coco that you are right on track here. Precisely right. In my world, my acquaintances, do not shove porno in my face therefore I also funtion just fine. Maybe I am fortunate, but I believe it has a lot to do with choice also.

Ok I didn't see this offensiveness.. but I mean you all like LC obviously thats why your here.. LC was a very sexual person.. and can be offensive to some at times.. So I'm not getting the problem.. As far as comments.. well it's a computer.. Who care's?? You don't like something you don't have to look or read about it.. thats the beauty of computers. You can choose to care or not care.. to read or to ignore!

Having this kind of drama on a site with mostly adults on this type of site to boot is very odd to me..

I have not said anything on this issue. But I will now. I did see the "offensive" graphic and avatar. And C it is rather hard to ignore graphics don't you think? It's not as though one knows instinctively that a certain "thread" is going to contain a pornographic picture. And you miss the point entirely. This was not Art. It was pornography directed at a fellow member.

I agree that you are "not getting the problem".

From your posting it appears you are very confused and have interchanged LC and SC. LC did not post the avatar in question; Sept. Cohen did. The avatar had nothing to do with LC at all, and bore no resemblance to the sexuality that comes through LC's writing.
