Re: Brent Mydland's last show.
cheesebeer, I did not know about this archive site!! I'd only been listening and finding older stuff on youtube and on cd's! I have been listening to TONS of shows and songs since you pointed this out to me the other day, this could keep me busy and happy for months. Thanks so much!!! I feel like I'...

Re: Brent Mydland's last show.
Brent was probably about the best keyboardist/pianist Grateful Dead ever had. He played with a lot of energy and skill, plus he would jump from keyboard to keyboard in every song. A hell of a singer, too! I really liked his backing vocals when they got a little loud and blended with Jerry's. I never...

Re: covers of LC on youtube by forum members??
If I'm not filming it, I can play most of the song start to finish but if I was filming it, 3 seconds worth wouldn't be a bad idea!

I do, but it only shoots about 3 seconds of footage at a time, unless I'm missing something. I take lots of pictures with it at least.

What made you choose your posting name?
Just for the hell of it and just for fun, what made you choose your posting name on this forum?
I'll start...
I was listening to Lady Midnight while I was signing up and it was really late at night, way after midnight, so I just chose mr.midnight. I'm usually a night owl anyway.

Re: Children liking Leonard Cohen
I think it's great for a child to be raised on L.C's music. I don't mean to sound old and I know it's not me, but kids today have such plastic garbage to listen to and there's a lot of reasons and lack of reason for that. I often wonder how I would have turned out if I had been (more exposed to it t...

Re: The Darkness - NEW SONG (work-in-progress) (Venice Aug 3rd)
This is a great new song! He's still got it!
Sounds like he went back a few years or so, like a person a bit younger than he is singing it, playing it and wrote it.
I have always enjoyed the 'darkness' in Leonard's songs.

Re: The Leonard/Janis thread
I always got the feeling that they (Leonard/Janis) never really got to know each other as well as they would have liked to or never hit it off or clicked as well as they would have liked. On paper, it seemed like they should work together and would have some things in common musically and in other w...

Re: covers of LC on youtube by forum members??
Hi Mr Midnight It took me ages to figure out how to play 'Seems so long ago, Nancy' to suit the pitch and this is what I ended up with.... thanks for the response. I'm trying to find the right pitch for 'hey, that's no way to say goodbye' Sisters of Mercy is the one that has eluded me the last 30+ ...

Re: covers of LC on youtube by forum members??
Hey! Thanks for sharing that, Pete. I really enjoyed the 'Seems so long ago, Nancy' song that you did, it totally works with the capo like that. I suppose this is a good time to plug something I found on this forum that'll help with learning every LC song, even stories of the street which I tried la...

covers of LC on youtube by forum members??
Who on this forum has one or many LC covers on youtube? Could you post them here if you have them?
If you don't want to and prefer to keep your privacy, I understand that.
It would be so cool if someone did Stories of the Street or Teachers

Re: Whats your favourite Leonard Cohen's song?
Leonard would have to play live at my funeral since I wasn't VIP enough to score one of his tickets in real life.
Oh, and he'd definitely have to play 'Here it is'. Yeah, I go on about that a lot

Re: Interview With Leonard
I completely failed at Avalanche, but you might want to try moving on to learning other songs of his and then going back to the ones you're stumped on later on, I've been able to figure out a couple that way.

Re: Interview With Leonard
I think he's a great guitar player, even on his first album. From the fast picking on Stranger song to the many quick chord changes in Master Song...not as easy as he makes it look! Anyone else think so?I didn't play that great guitar either.

Re: Video or DVD material of 1988
This might not be much of a help to you, but I think you can find a lot of live performances from '88 on Youtube, I think there are at least a few from San Sebastian and those I believe are from '88. The song "Avalanche" comes to mind.
